At Nkazi's house
She placed Kea's bag in the boot and closed it turning to Thorello.
Nkazi: All done.
Thorello: Don't be sad, she'll visit you during the weekends.
Nkazi: I was used to her you know. She's very obedient and matured for her age.
Thorello:(Smiled) I'm sure she'll miss you too.
Nkazi: Obviously, Take care of her for me.
Thorello:(smiled) Okay mmagwe Cat.
Nkazi:(smiled) Yeah mmagwe Cat wa Kea, see you tomorrow. You should get going it late.
Thorello: Yeah go shapo akere?
Nkazi: Yeah.
She crouched infront of Kea...
Nkazi: You'll behave in daddy's house akere?
She nodded and Nkazi smiled pecking her forehead.
Nkazi: I love you so much my baby.
Kea: I love you mmagwe Cat.
Nkazi smiled and rubbed her eyes standing up, she opened the door for her and fastened her seatbelt then closed the door.
Nkazi: Please look after her, I'll call you before her bedtime. Bye.
She stepped away from the car and Thorello pulled her hand and pinned her against the car kissing her. She pushed him frowning....
Thorello: Why are you pushing me away?
Nkazi: I'm not...
Thorello: What are you doing?
Nkazi: You're still hung up on your wife, I told you I'll wait and I can tell you're not ready to go back in the dating game.
Thorello:(sighs) I'm not hung up on...
Nkazi: Shhh! I get it...Leave I'll see you tomorrow, drive safely.
She turned to the gate and pressed the remote opening it and folded her arms looking at Thorello...He sighed and got inside the car driving out.
She closed the gate and went back inside.
She loved this man but she wasn't prepared to live under a dead woman's shadow.
Cathrine: Mom, are we ever going to see Kea again?
Nkazi: Yes you'll see her.
Delanie: Is she leaving because my friends laughed at how she speaks English?
Nkazi: No my baby Kea needs to live with her father since her mother went to heaven.
Cathrine: Are you sure that old man will not beat her again?
Nkazi:(faked a smile) I'm sure.
Dilan: He'll not hurt her Cat or else I'll kill him with my bare hands.
Nkazi: Dilan! Stop saying that. You can't go around making such threats.
Dilan: No mom! Kea used to cry in her sleep and she was very sad if that man hurt her again I'll kill him.
He tossed the remote on the coffee table and disappeared down the passage. Nkazi sighed looking at him, his son was too aggressive for his age. He was only 9 years old but his aggressiveness was that of a 19 years old, as days passed he behaved more like his father, Flavio.
She turned to her kids sitting on the mat with a fleece blanket covering their laps and faked a smile, her kids was all that she lived for.
And she wondered if Thorello will be able to accept them cause she wasn't compromising when it came to her kids.
Nkazi: Mommy needs to make a quick phonecall I'll be back.
They nodded their eyes focused on the TV and she smiled walking to her room.
At Nondumiso's house
The next day Nondumiso's father sat under the shade reading his newspaper, Nondumiso passed by him holding her bag. He closed the newspaper and fixed his spectacles looking at her...
Nondu's dad: Where are you going?
Nondumiso: I'm going out with Sbani.
Nondu's dad:(Pointing at a chair next to him) Sit down.
She sighed and went to sit down placing her bag on her lap.
Nondu's dad: I want us to talk about your friend, I don't trust him.
Nondumiso: He's harmless dad and he loves me.
Nondu's dad: Do you love him? I know this conversation is probably weird because you should be having it with your mother but I care about you and I'm scared that boy will hurt you. He agreed to dragging someone with a car on a gravel road, what is he going to do to you if you ever make a mistake?
Nondumiso: Father the person who's spreading those rumours is his baby mama she's bitter because Sbani left her for me. She even burned them inside the house and killed their son. Sbani will never do that, he probably agreed because you were interrogating him and he doesn't like being interrogated.
Nondu's dad: Are you sure?
Nondumiso: Yes, dad I stayed all these years without dating anyone. I can never put my life in danger by dating a dangerous man. I know better than that.
Nondu's dad:(sighs) I don't know my baby that boy has a dark aura, he makes me feel uneasy nje. Be careful.
