Song for chapter 14 - "Almost there" by Anika None Rose from Princess And The Frog.

***

I climbed over the fence, balancing on the edge of the bridge. My breaths became slow, not apprehending the fear of death anymore. It was like all my feelings and senses turned off all at once. I slowly put one foot over the edge and then fell face first into the water below me.

My lungs were burning, but it was as if my body was on shut down. I still didn't feel anything. All I felt was empty. The water was pretty see-through, because light leaked into it. I saw some fish swimming past me before I completely passed out...

...except none of that happened.

"Hey, can I come over to stay the night? My parents are going out for the day anyway." Richie asked me when I had finally answered the ringing phone.

"I haven't seen you in four days and then you just randomly call me?" I questioned.

"Look, I'm sorry. I can't say this over the phone. I'll explain when I get there." Richie said.

"Hey, wai-" I got cut off by Richie ending the call. I sighed and slammed the phone back into it's place.

"Now what do I do? I don't want to share f/f with Richie. I guess I'll just hide it somewhere." I talked to myself. I checked around the place to see if there were any dirty clothes or a million years old half-eaten apple that I managed to give a name to (it's Jimmy, by the way). There were piles of dirty clothes, which I hid under my bed. I found Jimmy too and threw him out in the trash can.

Now, I had to wait for Richie to arrive. He didn't even ask for permission to come here, jeez...but I think his parents went on a "business trip" again. Why the quotation marks? Well, the business trips were actually an excuse to neglect their child. I mean, Richie is annoying sometimes, but to take it to this extent? Especially parents? That's really disgusting coming from them. But you know, life is never perfect like those fairy tale movies or books with happy endings.

Anyway, snapping back to reality now. I went outside and sat on the porch, waiting for Richie to arrive. My heart picked up pace when I saw him driving towards my house with his bike. What's wrong with me? These past few days my heart has just been racing at the thought of seeing Richie in person. Maybe it's because I haven't seen him for four days or maybe I have feelings for him? Yeah, it's probably the second option. I would hate to be the oblivious protagonist of a story.

"Heyyy, sweetcheeks! How's it going?" Richie exclaimed as he put his bike down on the ground.

"No, how's it going for you? You're the one who came to my house without an explanation." I raised my eyebrow at him.

"You would kill me if I told you." Richie smirked.

"Oh god, what is it now?" I sighed.

"Haha, I uh...I was just bored." Richie laughed when I glared at him.

"Are you kidding me? That's why you came here?"

"Aaand I haven't seen you for a while. I kinda missed you." Richie hesitantly added.

"Kinda?" It was my turn to smirk now. Richie's face went red.

"Kinda a lot. You're my best friend, of course I would miss you." He scoffed.

"Where were you anyway? You didn't show up at school at all and didn't respond to my calls. What on earth were you doing? Were you sick?" I asked him.
