'A simple ink splatter... that's what caused all of this...' Ethan thought dryly to himself, scribbling on the paper in front of him. The assignment that had just been given to the class was to draw a picture, then describe what the picture was showing. Raven was sitting next to him, doodling random people and designs.

"What's that?" she asked, peering over Ethan's shoulder.

He looked up from the scribbled black drawing and over to her, clutching the crayon in his left hand. He was ambidextrous and switched which hand he used often. "Alma," he replied simply, turning back to his drawing.

"Has she been bothering you?" Raven asked, still staring at the drawing.

Ethan nodded, then started drawing again.

"NO YOU DON'T USE PINK WITH ORANGE!" Alois yelled from the other side of the room.

"This is pink?" Jack asked, staring at the colored pencil in his hand. "I just thought that these two shades of gray would look good together."

"THAT ISN'T GRAY!" Alois yelled again. Eva's laughter rang out throughout the room, followed shortly by Raven's.

"He can't see in color," Eva laughed.

Raven smirked, then said, "Yeah, give the guy a break."

Alois stared at Eva, then at Raven, mouth agape. He then smiled and laughed. "You always have such interesting reactions," he giggled.

Ethan looked up and stared at him. For a moment, Alois looked all bloody and beaten up, a torn black cape. He blinked and jumped back, bringing his hands up to his chest. Raven looked startled, but for a reason unknown to Ethan. He looked back at Alois, who seemed to be flikering with a dull purple light.

Raven suddenly stood up next to him, making the table shake. "Let's save Jack from a color disaster!" she yelled, pointing at everyone in turn. "I'll need everyone's help with this! Alois, gather up all the writing tools! Eva, start sorting them out by color when Alois gives them to you!"

The two nodded and spread out two different parts of the room.

"Ethan!" Raven turned to the startled boy, who cowered under her determined gaze. "You can get the paint brushes and any kind of paint you can find!" she declared, then walked over to Jack. "You need to learn your colors, mister! We have a long way to go if you want to make a sensible drawing!"

Jack laughed, then said, "It's a lost cause, Raven. I have never been able to see colors, and never will."

Ethan stared at them, waiting to see what would happen. Their images flikered in his mind, but faded too quickly for him to make out what they looked like.

        "We'll see about that."
