Chapter 4 A good fight

I got up from a good night of sleep. I got ready for the day and i knew that it was going to be a hard day. I do my usual when getting ready but this time i wrap my hand to be ready for the boxing competition. I walk out of the inn and start to walk down the street that lead to the town square were the boxing competition was being held that afternoon. I walk up to the sign up table and began to fill out the paperwork but then the man taking the paperwork said something to me "hey I don't think I've seen you before are you new in town?" I respond "yes I just got in town  2 days ago." I hand him the completed paperwork then he asked me a question "why do you want to enter the competition." after hearing this I gave him a simple answer "I have an eye for fine weapons." I say with a small smile on my face.

The competition starts in 2 hours so I decided to go and get a bite to eat while I had time. I walk to a small dinner that has pretty good food as I sat down I couldn't help but smile just from talking to someone, I use to be a chatterbox but I haven't really talked to anyone in a while. During the 2 hour before the competition I couldn't help but smile. I walk to the ring and look at the fight brackets and see I up first against a man named Jack. When the start of the competition was announced I walk in to the ring and so does jack we shake hands and get ready to fight. We were on edge waiting for the signal to fight then....

*Ding*

We ran at each other he goes for quick strike to the face, it doesn't hit I was to fast to get hit. I gave him a strong and fast hit to his jaw. He didn't go down but stumbled back a few steps. I know in this moment that strength and speed won't be enough to win. I kept my guard up, he went right for a hit to the stomach but this time it hit and I lost all the wind in my sails. I quickly recovered and went for two quick jabs they connected. After 2 or 3 minutes of punches we were tired but I have more stamina then him. After just a few seconds he fell down exhausted. The ref counted down from ten. "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 that's it Matthew is the winner." As the fight was called I walk over to Jack and offer him a hand up and he accepts. "Thanks that was a good fight." He said with a smile on his face. "Yes it was." I say with a smile on my face as well. As I help him up we walk out of the ring and he tells me something that surprised me a lot. "You know I was the one who won this tournament last year." As I hear this I start to laugh. "No wonder you hit so hard."

As the day continued I continued to fight no other fights were as fun or hard as the first one. As the tournament was coming to a close I stud as the winner and won the 1st place prize.

The prize was well worth the time and punch to the stomach. As I sheath the dagger and put it away I start walking to the inn. I get to my room and sit down on my bed and take out the dagger I just look at the fine craftsmanship of the blade. After a few minutes of looking dagger I put it away and go out to eat at the dinner I found my first day in town.

After the day was done I decided that i'll head out the next day to the dojo were I can learn swordsmanship. I lay down on the bed think 'looks like I have a few days of walking to look ford to.' As I think this I just drift off to sleep.
