Autumn's Concerto : Chapter 1

                                                                      IMPRESSION

I walked pass the gray columns of metal doors. Loud voices echoed in the atmosphere. Most of the students were blabbering about a new student, nothing I was concerned of. I couldn't see why they were so excited about this guy. He was just normal. A normal kid with normal musical abities, like a normal girl like me. Hadn't they been used to this? I mean, every year, new students take place of the ones who were gonna graduate. There's nothing unusual about that, just like the food cycle, just normal. Just like nature. I walked towards the cafeteria, towards my usual table. I sat beside my two friends, Jessica and Mila. They were chatting about someone.

"Hey, Jess, hey, Mila." I said, trying to drag their attention. They seemed not to notice. "Uhm, hey, Jess." I slid my tray on the table.

"Oh, hey Audrey." She turned back to Mila. UGH!! Why did she always have to do that? Interrupting me at my only decent chance to talk to them? Can somebody kindly remind them what friends are for? "Anyways, Robert's so gorgeous! I mean, look at him. Isn't he hot?" Jess said. Mila nodded. "Yeah, Jess I know. He should really..."

I interrupted Mila. "Uhm, who's Robert?" Jess looked at me. "Oh my gosh, Audrey! Don't you know Robert? He's the new kid here," she said. "He's also the most gorgeous guy here." She giggled. "He's also smart, charming, and rich," Mila added. Both of them giggled, again, in a stupid girly tone. Whatever. I didn't care. I couldn't afford to hate them here. They were my only friends. Either just hate them or leave them in their ways. "So, Aud, what's on the menu today?" Mila asked me. "Seriously, Mila, didn't you get your food then? Class is almost gonna start. I think there's New York deli today. There was only little left when I got mine so you're gonna have to hurry. I'm gonna start mine already." Both of them left. I sighed. Finally, some privacy. I just couldn't stand them. I looked at them leave and heard them chatting about that boy again. I started to eat my food. Not quite delicious, but okay. I left my cheeseburger half-eaten on its plate, then continued to my strawberry parfait. Sweet. Delectable. I imagined myself licking the spoon. I laughed at the thought. Thump! I heard something fall to the ground. When my hand scanned the bench I was sitting on, I realized my bag wasn't there. I sighed. It must have fallen to the ground. When I reached to get it, I saw someon at the corner of my eye. I didn't recognize him, so he must have been Robert, the new guy. I had to admit, he was kind of handsome. I grabbed my bag immediately as the bell rang, signaling the start of my next class, song writing.

I was wrong about Robert.
