This one-shot is long so I'm making it into two chapters.

-------------------

In a world where practically everyone has a quirk, Izuku feels left out. No matter how much he tries to convince himself he's a late bloomer, it still doesn't work. At a young age, he has felt disappointment. A rug yanked from beneath his feet. And for the first time, he has felt alone. While the other kids around him developed their quirks, Izuku watches. Taking note of their quirks and the benefits it can bring into this world. Izuku can't help but feel a bit envious. The world wasn't ready to give him a break. There he sits in his chair in junior high, scentless.

In an omegaverse world, Izuku doesn't have the slightest smell of anything. Quirkless and scentless, he's an outcast. Even betas have a scent, not strong, but it's a scent to indicate. At least the thought of not being a late bloomer doesn't haunt him in this situation. There have been no cases of someone not being anything. He has to be presented as something... right?

Izuku stayed up all night yesterday reading up about late bloomers. With a ton of articles and websites, he did find an interesting one. All the other websites were very positive, but a few other websites actually stay in Izuku's head. Some information calms him, but others scare him. A comment on a page says that only 0.05% of people in the world turn out unpresented. It sounds insane and pretty believable if you don't know the information to counter it. The replies are half and half saying that it's true while others say it's not. That began a spiral of panic in Izuku's head. What, am I useless... no, can't be. Everyone has to be presented as something... right?

Izuku doesn't have much trouble being alone in a social sense. It gives him more time to research about heroes and write about them. That's not to say Izuku doesn't want friends at all. Maybe two or four, that would be enough for him. Maybe then he'd have someone to talk to about heroes with once and a while. He does miss having that, the old days with Kacchan and him gushing over All Might. Although the obsession for the hero never stopped for either of them. Kacchan... he does miss him dearly. Izuku mentally shakes his head. No, it's not like he's gone forever, he's just... distant to him. Someday Izuku hopes to have a connection with Katsuki again. A few actual conversations with him here and there would be enough for Izuku. Izuku hums at the thought and sits back in his seat.

"Midoriya." Izuku is shot out of his thoughts, eyes widen as he stares at his teacher. "Are you with us?" A few snickers make their way out of his classmate's mouths. In the corner of his eye, he sees Katsuki clicking his tongue, making a small glance towards him. Not a glare, but just looking towards Izuku. How long was he zoned out? Izuku responds quickly, the lecture continues as Izuku tries to pay attention. He opens his notebook and frantically writes what's on the board before it's erased. As he's writing, his mind moves somewhere else. The lecture completely did not reach his ears anymore.

But if he presented what would it be? His mother has said a beta, just like her, but Izuku can recall Mitsuki saying an alpha. Then again, she could've been joking about that. Now that Izuku is thinking about Mitsuki, he can recall that Katsuki presented pretty early on, an alpha as Izuku expects. Or anyone for that matter expects. It makes sense with how everything he does is amazing. A warm feeling overcomes Izuku's heart along with a smile. He can't imagine Katsuki being anything but wondrous.

---

"Sugoi! Katsuki-kun you presented!"

"And an alpha, wouldn't expect any less." Izuku watches from afar, notebook clenched against his chest. Izuku doesn't share his thoughts, but it is amazing. He can see Katsuki's energy is more powerful than before.

"Ha? Did you think I wouldn't present early?!" Katsuki growls out. Still having some post-rut competitive nature brewing inside him. Izuku read about that as soon as he heard his mother talking to Auntie Mitsuki about Kacchan. He is never really one to actually focus on the alpha, beta, and omega status as much as quirks. He figures it's still useful to know and gets his mind off of his quirklessness. Since Kacchan has presented early his ruts aren't like adult ruts, more of a sample of what it'll be like. Although, the competitive or slightly aggressive nature is still there. It'll build up as time goes on.

"Of course not Katsuki-kun, only the special ones get to present early." The long-fingered male said, going to slap Katsuki on the back but quickly backed off. A warning smell mixed in with Katsuki's natural scent released. Izuku can't smell it from far away, but he always thought about what scent Katsuki would get. Something earthy like what a cave would smell like? Or something to do with explosions like ash? Izuku was so far into his thoughts that he didn't even realize they were walking towards him.

"Out of my way, Deku." Izuku yelped, his nickname being said more of a growl than the usual slightly threatening tone. "Your mumbling is even more annoying when I can hear you from across the room." Izuku sighs, smiling up at his childhood friend. Of course, alphas have more hearing range when they want to.

"Sorry Kacchan, I-"

"I bet you're an omega." Izuku blinks unexpectedly. Katsuki said that as if he's sure of it. But that's how he always speaks, this is no different. Izuku has tried to study that before on how Katsuki always seems to be correct on things. The search study ended very quickly when Izuku realized how stalkerish it would've been.

"U- Um, what m- makes you say that?" Izuku says, stuttering. Izuku is surprised since it's the first time anyone has even said they think he's an omega. Maybe it's because he looks to normal to be anything other than a beta. And to end it all off, Katsuki clicks his tongue to a tsk sound,

"It would just be weird if you weren't." Izuku watched him walk away. He's confused as to why that sentence warms him in a way. Was that... a normal conversation?

---

The bell rings as Izuku comes back to reality from his flashback. His hand goes to his mouth, he wasn't mumbling. He looks down at his notebook and felt himself pale a bit. He wrote everything that was on his mind in the notebook. Izuku gulps and just packs up his things for the next class, writing instead of mumbling is probably better anyway. Especially with a certain alpha in earshot. He'd probably be mad if he knew he was on Izuku's mind. Izuku rubs his shoulders, feeling them a bit sorer than usual. Izuku stomach churns as he thinks it might've been the fact that lunch is almost coming up. He gets up and walks into the hallway to the next class.

For some reason, the line just wouldn't go away. "It just would've been weird if you weren't..." What did it mean? Izuku shouldn't be jumping to conclusions or even thinking about it, but a strange feeling won't go away. Izuku knows it wasn't from his thoughts, the feeling has been going on ever since he left the house this morning. It's a hot feeling that won't go away and makes Izuku sweat a bit. What is it? He'd have to ask his mother to talk him to the doctor. A frown displays on Izuku's face. Going to the doctor gives him bad memories.

"It just would've been weird if you weren't."

Izuku groans, his frown growing deeper. Suddenly Izuku is very aware of how much alphas are around him. Their scents radiating everywhere making Izuku a bit nauseous. Izuku blinks, the feeling intensifying as it crashes like a wave. Izuku doesn't know what's happening, but his body is moving on its own. He runs into some random room and closes the door. Izuku's breathing gets heavier. He places a hand over his mouth in fear that he'd vomit if he didn't. Why is it so hot in here? Izuku goes to open the window, but it's rusted. He's in an old classroom, one that almost never gets used. Izuku unbuttons his black school outfit, but the heat is still burning. It's almost painful and itching for something. Izuku's knees are weakening as he leans against a desk near the window. The curtains cover the window almost fully, a few sunshine leaks through. Izuku tries to hold back the tears, he really does, but it just wasn't enough.

Despite being extremely hot, his body shivers from a chill that runs through Izuku. Everything in Izuku was put on high alert. Was this all a quirk accident? Izuku doesn't remember bumping into someone. Nonetheless, he's aware of his surroundings and can hear the sounds of footsteps going by. The sound of chatter amongst the students. Except for one particular footstep that stops in front of the door. The shadow showing underneath the door. The knob turns as a figure enters the room. Izuku's heart speeds up and he tries to back away despite being against a desk.
