A FAMILIAR FEELING

"Like a worm nestled deep in your brain that eats away at your deepest thoughts, you can't put your finger on the mystery of such a feeling ; one that has no name,"

"Hurry up, now - Don't want you to be late! You don't get much time to say goodbye if you're late," Anastacia Bernard hummed as she assisted her husband, Sebastian, in placing Cordelia's two trunks into the back of their car. It was a necessity to move around muggle towns without causing suspicion, not only that - but Sebastian had developed a fascination with how they worked - often spending his free time in their garage fiddling with different wiring and taking notes on how each function worked, he certainly was no mechanic - as he often made dire mistakes, but Ana's father had known enough about vehicles to aid him in his adjustments.

"Mum - We're not going to be late, don't be silly. We have about -" Cordelia peered down at the watch on her wrist - it was silver with bronze arms. Inside it's face was a moving picture of the three of them over the summer, they had just gotten their yearly family pictures taken, "three hours!"

"Your mother is right, Duck. Takes about two hours to get to Kings Cross Station from here and on top of that - I was meant to stop at Gringotts to pick you up some Galleons for the road - Merlin knows how long I'll be," Her father's tongue pressed to his cheek as he made his way to the fireplace only to be stopped by her mother.

"Oh, Seb. I know you didn't forget to do that yesterday-" A look of what Cordelia could only assume was disappointment crossed her mother's face before she began to grin, stifling a giggle that often left her whenever her father was around.

"I did, Ana - I'm sorry. I'll be quick,"

"No need. I knew you'd forget so I went and picked some up this morning," Rifling through her purse, she pulled out a pouch that seemed to be quite weighted, gesturing towards it dramatically. Cordelia watched as her father's arms wrapped tightly around her mother, lifting her off the ground as he peppered kisses all over her face. Going on and on about how the two of them were in sync - perfectly made for one another. Their undying love, though adorable and all, oftentimes made her feel quite queasy.

"Alright, Lovebirds, let's get a move on - Mum just said we were running late," The brunette commented offhandedly with a scrunched nose as she squeezed into the backseat with her belongings. It didn't take much longer for her parents to follow suit, her dad reading off their checklist to ensure that they had everything - They did.

The ride was silent besides the music that played gently over the speakers. Her parents would often exchange a few words, but mostly stuck to admiring the scenery around them. That was how it usually went for the family of three. The muggle world was fascinating for them - How each individual thing would work so effortlessly with magic . . . It truly was strange, but they would have to say the same thing about how witches and wizards lived their own lives. They had it easy, and even Cordelia was aware of that.

Though, Cordelia was stuck in her own mind as they drove. Her thoughts were roaming to the day in Diagon Alley not even a week ago. How embarrassed her father was to be known as a Slytherin in front of the Weasleys. He must have known them before everything changed for him, they probably thought of him as a monster. How had Slytherin remained during the times of peace? Are they still often villianzied for the deceit that one of their kind had managed to pull, or were they just . . . Normal?
