It's ok to cry

Draco had started to become distant. He no longer ate. No longer slept. You were becoming increasingly worried. You and Draco no longer went on dates to Hogsmade and you didn't really see him around school. To be fair neither of you shared many lessons but you both made a subconscious effort to spend as much time together as you could. Your relationship wasn't a perfect one by any means but it was working and you were glad. At first you thought it was something you had done, but you soon realised that he must be worried for his family as you know who was on the rise.

You always had a soft spot for Draco, even though he could be an arrogant asshole. You always saw through that tough exterior. You saw a innocent helpless boy who was just begging of attention. The two of you only started talking in your second year. It started with you defending your friends from one of his snide remarks. He had never noticed you before, how could he. He was always to far up his own ass to realise, or to busy up Harry's (sorry. I'm a secret Drarry shipper 😂). To say he was shocked was an understatement. He knew there was something special about you but he couldn't quite work out what it was.

The two of you started dating in the middle of of your 3rd year. All things were steady until the summer of your 5th year where you didn't hear from him at all. Normally the two of you would owl back and forth so you spent countless days waiting at your window for a letter. A letter that never came. You decided that you would just go and talk to him at Hogwarts. Yes you were upset but you just labelled yourself as clingy.

You sat in a carriage reading alone for an hour before a knock came on the door. You looked up hoping that it was Draco. You couldn't help but be disappointed when you see the golden trio standing at the door. With a nod you watched the trio walk in and sit down. You weren't exactly best friends with the trio but you couldn't call them your enemies either. You looked back down and reemerged yourself back in your book, occasionally looking up through the window or listening to the trios conversations.

Yours and Draco's relationship was public but wasn't necessarily a secret. Many people believed that you were just best friends. That's why you were quite shocked when you heard the trio talking about him. You made sure that you had your head down, making it appear that you were still reading. "I'm telling you, he is a death eater" you heard Harry say. A death eater? Sure, you knew that Draco's family was really close to Voldemort, but you never thought he would ever become one unless he was literally force into it. Your mind was racing at a million miles an hour so you only heard snippets of their conversation; something about an initiation. They continued to talk until you let out an unintentionally loud sigh. From the corner of your eye you saw 3 heads snap towards you and Hermione gasp. I think it's safe to say: they forgot you were there. All of their faces went extremely pale and they started to scramble to make an apology.

"Guys" you had to shout for them to hear you. "Look I don't really care about who you decide to bitch about. But please for the love of whatever you believe in, watch who you are saying in front of. I'm not going to do anything but you may not be so lucky next time ok". The trio nodded. Let's just say that the rest of the train journey was completed on silence.

Harry had left to "go and check something" leaving you alone with the other two. As the train came to a stop you went to open the cabin door but stopped to turn around and look at the Ron and Hermione. "Will you two confess that you like each other already? The tension is too strong". With that said you quickly walked out of the train and left the couple blushing. You looked around for any sight of Draco. After not seeing the platinum blond hair that stood out for miles, you made your way to the carriages and started the trail up to the castle.

As you entered the great hall you looked over to the Slytherin table and saw your boyfriend sitting there. You decided to make your way over to sit next to him. You had always been one for sitting at different houses tables ever since you started at Hogwarts, so no student or teacher ever questioned why you sat where you did. As you Slytherin to sit next to your boyfriend (sorry I could NOT stop myself), you tried to start a conversation with him and his friends. His friends didn't mind you sitting with them as they all though you were fun, they often saw you move about between house and that didn't matter to them, they weren't as bad as everyone made them out to be. Throughout the whole ceremony and dinner Draco didn't say a word to you and when everyone went to go back to their houses he continued sitting and staring down at his plate. "You ok?" You asked as you placed a hand on his shoulder. His head shot up as he mumbled a 'yes' and quickly walked away. The was no way you could have caught up with him as his legs are a lot longer than yours. You decide to quickly steal a bread roll and make your way back to your common room.

It had been a few months since the beginning of the term and you still hadn't really talked to Draco. To be honest you were quite upset. your boyfriend, if you can even call him that any more had ignored you for months. Christmas was just around the corner and you had had enough waiting so you sent him a note which wrote 'meet me in the astronomy tower at midnight- y/n'. At midnight you made your way up to the tower and sat down near the edge with your hands on the railing. You sat and stared at the stars for what felt like minutes to you had actually been hours. You only knew this when you started to see the sunrise. 'Great I've been stood up by my own boyfriend' you thought. This is when you decided that you had had it with is boy and your relationship.

You made your way down and to the great hall, where you saw him sat at the Slytherin table.  You quickly made your way over to him grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the hall. By this time, you had most of the halls attention, for you were very rarely angry, so this was a shock to many people. You dragged him into a quiet corridor where you finally let go of his arm. "What the fuck was that for?" He yelled at you. "I don't know" you replied sarcastically "oh maybe it was because you haven't talked to me in near enough 5 months and the first thing you do is yell at me". He gave you a harsh glare which you returned. "Where were you last night?" You asked. You saw the look on his face go from angry to very much confused. "Sleeping. Why?" You were really shocked. "Why? Because you were supposed to meet me in the astronomy tower" you shouted. "Well maybe if you weren't so clingy I would have gone". Ok that actually hurt you way more than you care to admit. "If I'm so clingy then we're done Draco. I don't want to be with you anymore" with that said, you turned around and went straight back to your dorm.

It was a few weeks after New Years. A lot had happened in that time Ron had been poisoned, so had Katie. People were believing it was Draco, well, mainly Harry. You were eating at the Hufflepuff table when you saw Harry chase Draco out of the hall. You excused yourself from your friends and followed the pair. They ran into the boys toilets. 'Great' you thought as you walked in. Before you knew it hex's were being thrown. You jumped in front of Draco as Harry said an unknown curse. You screamed. There was so much pain running through your body. You looked up to see that Harry had fled and Draco was there crying. He looked down to see you staring at him and wiped the tears from his face. "It's ok to cry" you said "don't believe anyone who says it isn't manly because it is" he gave you a gentle smile.  "I love you" you said as you felt yourself feeling tired. "I love you too" he cried. After he said that he felt your body go limp in his arms. He gently closed your eyes and buried his head into the crook of your neck. He stayed there for a few minutes sobbing before Snape tapped him on the shoulder and told him that he need to let you go. Nothing they could do would bring you back.

Draco would visit your grave often. He would leave you flowers, love notes and would sit and have meals with you. The teachers would worry about him, but they soon realised this was his way of mourning you. He didn't take part in the war, as he could never agree with both sides, especially since Harry killed you and you never agreed that violence was the answer. After the war, Draco returned for a redo of his 7th year. As soon as he got off the train, he walked straight up to your grave to see that they had edited your headstone. He wanted to be upset, but he couldn't after reading what they had put. 'It's ok to cry'
