Today started out normal. I got out of bed, got dressed, ate breakfast, and turned on the TV. I didn't have to go to school because I was homeschooled after the incident there when I almost got kidnapped. Thrice.
Not normal, right? Yeah, well there's a lot of not normal things about me.
But let me continue. I usually start "school" at nine but today my parents weren't there. I didn't think much about it until after lunch. Though, I just shrugged it off thinking they were taking late shifts at work and forgot to tell me.
When it started getting dark, I started to worry. I paced around the house, debating on whether or not I should walk to their workplace, before getting a text.
Pack your bags and meet us at town square, 12:30. Don't be late.
-Mom
I stared at the text for a while. Then my eyes wandered to the clock. 11: 25. I ran upstairs and pretty much packed my whole room. Okay, maybe not pretty much but... yeah the whole room.
I grabbed my bags and walked over to my car. It was a baby blue Mustang that has been passed down through our family for years now.
I drove as quickly, yet cautiously, as I could. My insecure mind kept checking the time, which was 12:05. I knew I had time but I couldn't help but stress about being late.
I pulled up in the parking lot and grabbed my bags, searching for my parents.
"Elle!" I heard my mother's voice from behind me.
"Mom? What's going on?" I asked.
"Come inside and we'll explain." The look on her face got me really worried.
When we got inside I was greeted by my father, my twin brother, and a strange woman.
"Elle, this is Charlie." Mom introduced the woman.
She smiled and put out her hand, her red hair falling over her shoulder as she did. Her teal eyes seemed to shine when she looked at my brother and I.
"It's nice to finally meet you!" She spoke. Finally? I shook her hand and walked over to my brother, Carter.
Weird, huh? He asked through our twin connection.
Uh-huh.
I was really confused as to what we were doing. Luckily, Carter knew exactly what I was thinking.
We're special. He started to explain.
Really? Oh wow, I didn't know? I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
He sighed.
Well anyway, Charlie is here t- He was interrupted by Charlie herself.
"Are you two done with your conversation?" She asked with a sweet smile.
I was too shocked to say anything so I just nodded. How did she know? I thought to myself.
"Well then let me explain. You're special, as you know, meaning you are in danger." Charlie started. "That's where I come in. I am the head master of Pārdabisks boarding school. It is a school for supernatural beings. We take in kids who have abilities and teach them how to control them. As for you two, we know you have a connection with each other, a mind link. We also know that there is more power within you, power you haven't discovered yet.
"And for those reasons, we are asking you to come with us to learn who you truly are. We don't know what type of species you are, but we hope to find out." Charlie took a quick breathe before saying, "any questions?"
