Chapter 6

"Cienna!"
I turn around as I hear my mom's voice, she's running in my direction.
"What's wrong Nina?" I ask pretending like
I don't know.
"I got the strangest call last night, from an unknown number that said they were going to hunt me down and kick my ass if I didn't ask Alejandro to Homecoming."
She looks down at her feet while trying to calm herself down while I smile to myself, I cant believe that worked.

I place my arm around her and walk with her towards the cafeteria, prompting her on how to ask my dad to Homecoming.
"Just use these exact words, my destiny has brought me to you. If he doesnt get it, then just go along with what you feel." I say confidently instilling confidence in her, she inhales deeply and walks up to my dad's table as he's there before his friends arrive, I sit a table behind them so I can hear the conversation.

"Hi." Nina says quietly making Alejandro look up at her, he smiles a friendly smile.
"Hi." He returns, now placing his phone on the table.
"Umm, my destiny has brought me to you?" The girl says without any confidence in her tone, almost like she knew he wasn't interested in her.
"Huh?" He says confused making Nina frustrated.
"Umm, I mean-"
"Hang on, you're Ci's friend right? Nina is it?" He asks making her nod a tiny bit, he smiles.
"Yeah, I'm your destiny." She says finally gaining some confidence until its ruined by Mattia and Rebecca Caldwell.

"Aye, Rosario." Mattia says from the other end of the table.
"Oh for fucks sake." I whisper to myself as I manage to sneak my way over to where my mom's at.
"I let you have the girl your mom almost killed and now you wanna horn in on this one too? What is it with you? Ever heard of bro code?"
He gets closer to my parents until I trip him and make him fall, he gets up angrily and looks at everyone.
"Who did it?" He asks pissed.
"It was her."
I stand myself up as Rebecca Caldwell points at me, Mattia gets awfully close to me and nearly touches his nose with mine.

"Look, I'm not gonna hit a girl-" He says just before I punch him making his head turn, he wipes his mouth and looks at me like I'm dead meat.
But I run before any of those people have a chance of grabbing me, and soon, it's a chase through
the school, everyone following Rebecca and Mattia chasing me, I turn every possible corner until I
can finally blend myself into the crowd, running into my mom in the process. She smiles at me for
a split second before telling me that they see me and are running my way, I duck and crawl under people until I'm stopped by a man, Baylor.

Alejandro and Kairi turn around to see Cienna, Mattia and Rebecca being taken to the office, Alejandro smiles to himself.
"That girl is unique." Kairi says as he looks over at his friend.
"Oh yeah, sorry Kai, I'm not coming over today."

"Good god." Professor says as I hit my head against the table.
"Please tell me there is some good news that comes out of this?" He pleads as I sit up.
"I'm pretty sure my mom asked him to homecoming, so that's good at least, right?"
I'm trying to keep myself positive but it's hard when nothing is going right. Distracting myself
by helping the professor make his model work
is helping keep me sane, although I pretty much drown out his words.

Then a knock at the door catches us off guard, the professor answers the door only to reveal my dad, he smiles at me for a second.
"Hi Ci." He says quietly, I wave in response.
"Hey, uhh, how did you know I was here?" I ask with a nervous chuckle.
"I followed you, after you left the office of course, just wanted to make sure you were safe on your way, uhh, here." He says whilst looking around the room.
"Oh, uhh, well this is my Professor- uncle- Professor White." I spit out nervously.
"Hi." He says uncomfortably making the professor smile at him, he walks over to me and pulls me slightly away from the professor.

"Umm, look I really want to ask you something. I rehearsed it in the car and everything. But I was kinda wondering if... If you'd let me take you to homecoming this weekend."
I shake my head subtly, I'm dumbfounded.
"You- you mean you don't have a date?" I question in a slightly angry tone, he nods in response.
"No, I don't." He says softly making me tense up a bit, I can't believe she didn't ask him.
"Umm, sure, sure I'll go with you."
