It was the day Y/N leaves to go to Japan. Graduation ended already and that same day she needed to get ready for her flight. Y/N and Doyoung's family celebrated for a bit to fill up the time before their departure. As Doyoung gets out of the car he grabs Y/N suitcases from the trunk and he and Y/N parents head into the airport. The feeling of happiness and sadness spread through Y/N's body like a heatwave. They didn't know whether to feel sad or excited that their leaving. But Doyoung felt sad.
The thought of Y/N leaving for a couple of years felt new to him. He never totally brought the situation into reality. Everyone thinks he's situated with this but in all seriousness, he wants to cry. "What if they find a new friend or someone better than me" he kept repeating in his head. He knew their friendship was strong but he just couldn't help but wonder. Y/N noticed his reactionless features and knew he wasn't alright. They grabbed his hand and shook it. "Hey, don't worry! What did I tell you last time, I'll be back." He smiled and nodded still feeling sad.
As they arrived at the part where you board into the flight, Doyoung gives Y/N their bags and looks down. Y/N then hugs their parents telling them they love them and they respond back tearing up a bit. After the goodbyes with Y/N parents, they step back a bit giving Y/N and Doyoung a bit of space to say their goodbyes as well.
Y/N looks at him and he looks back at them with glossy eyes. Then they take him into a big embrace. Doyoung hugs back twice as tighter and cries a bit into their hair since he was much taller than them. To most people, Doyoung didn't seem like the emotional type. Only when he's around certain people. So when Y/N parents saw him cry they were a bit shook but not Y/N, they seen him cry plenty of times. Besides they have cried together before >.<.
"I'll make sure to text you every day even when I'm done training," he says into the embrace. He couldn't help but hug even tighter wanting to stay like this forever. Y/N stays silent for a couple of seconds until they say something that makes Doyoung widen his eyes. "I love you," Y/N said slowly stepping out of his arms. Doyoung's eyes stay widened and lips formed in a straight line. He was shocked. They never said this before ever to each other. They have been friends for years but something inside them couldn't make them say it. Was it their feelings towards each other that they didn't want to admit..... maybe.
Doyoung knew he liked Y/N but didn't say anything ever. Not even to himself. He stayed silent and Y/N spoke up. "Well guys I have to go now," Y/N said while taking the bags towards where they will board. Their parents waved and shouted their goodbyes while Doyoung stayed silent. He wanted to say something but he couldn't. It's like his mouth was glued shut. Then slowly, Y/N disappeared.
"I love you" played in his mind the whole ride. "I should've said it back. I should've said 'I love you' back"
