Lucy POV
Five years have gone by since our house had burned to the ground. We haven't seen or heard from the man who wants Sophia. We also have our head on a swivel. Watching and waiting for him to attack.
Today is Sophia's birthday. She's turning 5 today. Or so we think. We still don't know when her real birthday is, so we celebrate every year on the day Natsu found her.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIA!" We were celebrating at the guild. Everyone was there. There was cake, cookies, and presents!
Natsu and I sat on either side of our little girl. We watched and cheered as she blew out her candles.
"Thank you everyone!" Sophia gave a big smile. She jumped down from her spot and started to open her presents while sitting on the floor.
"Open ours first Sophia!" Wendy called out to her. Romeo walked over and handed it to her. Sophia sat on the floor and tore off the wrapping paper. It revealed a book titled, Romeo and Juliet.
"Woah! Is this based on you Romeo?" Sophia smiled as she skimmed through the book.
Romeo laughed. "Not exactly"
Sophia set the book on the floor and moved on to her next present. She took the blue wrapping paper off of the small box and opened the lid.
"Uncle Gray! It's the same necklace you have!" Sophia slipped the necklace over her head.
"Gray that's so sweet of you!"
Sophia looked up to Gray and gave him a sly smile. "Thank you, uncle Gray, I'll wear it forever and ever!"
There was only one gift left in the pile for Sophia to open. It was a small red box with a black ribbon laced around it.
" Who is this one from?" I asked out loud.
I looked around the room is everyone shipped their head as if they didn't know. I pick the small red box up and examined it in my hand. I had a bad feeling in my stomach, and gave Natsu curious look.
"Is this from you?" he shook his head, no, and shrugged his shoulders.
Sophia snatched the box out of my hands
"Let me open it mama!"
Sophias small fingers wrapped around the black lace and the bow slowly came undone. Sophia took the lid off the box and pulled out a mysterious black gemstone.
Suddenly I noticed Sophia's eyes had gone dark. Almost as if the stone was controlling her. I watched as Sophia shook her head and held up the stone.
The pit in my stomach grew.
"It's a good luck charm mama! Daddy take a look at this!"
"Natsu I have a bad feeling" I gave him a concerned look.
Natsu took the gemstone from Sophia's hand and examined it.
"What a pretty gemstone Sophia." Natsu fiddled with the stone curiously as I watched him. The stones seem to be a matte black and about the size of Sophia's palm. He looked over me and gave me an odd look. "Seems pretty harmless to me"
"Be sure to keep this safe Sophia. Especially since it's your new good luck charm."
Natsu handed the stone back to Sophia and grabbed my hand.
