Every family has their secrets. Whether they be secrets of war; murder; love. Concealing this truth is the key to hiding the darkness. Eventually, the thin veil will not be enough as secrets spill into the wrong hands, like a flame tearing through the barrier or silence.
Have you found your family secret?
The commotion is a blur; a hazy disarray of outlines and falling figures. Bright lights erupt from them, blinding him as his head throbs his veins. The pressure bursts his skull, his temples pounding as the sounds grow louder, the colours shining brilliantly. Like car-lights on a foggy night Cain squints as his eyes begin to adjust, making out the cloaks and pointy hats. Sharp pain pierces his arm as it hangs beside his body. Teeming veins prick his muscle-fibers and stretch his skin as he feels his body tensing at the loss of blood. But with that loss, history is revealed with the flick of a finger.
"There! Get them!" the same man shouts. Focusing his pupils, they expand and retract as blood rushes to Cain's pale face. Gleaming in the distance, golden glimmers surround the man as he hover mystically above the ground. His Asian features are pronounced and twisted into a harsh expression and orders spew like a flood. Keen golden orbs are hooded under his pointy witch hat which sits perched on his head. Dark hair strands emerge like sharp spikes from underneath, proving the authority he bears. Bringing his hand out, the intruder blasts one of the men who had grabbed Cain earlier. Thousands of sparks which seemed like flaming phoenix feathers hurl at the clone, flinging him and his advances back. Cain shakes at the sight as the clone's eyes roll back into his skull, only bulging white eyeballs and arteries popping into view from his eye-sockets.
Sweat trickles down Cain's forehead as he grits his teeth. Sandpaper replaced his throat as he swallows saliva, the gulp dragging down the dry canal. He brings trembling fingers up to his head, wrenching oily strands back as they slid and devoured his hands like a nest of perspiration. Darting his gaze to the clatter before him, he watches as a tall hooded figure looms over and shoots a hue of green towards Jett as he helplessly tumbles back. His elderly body collapses to the ground, his limbs quivering at the bone-breakage. Letting out a roaring cry, Jett's misplaced arm points and rests in a inhuman way sprawled beside him unnaturally. As the magical being reaches down and grabs onto the frail's cloak, Cain spots a prism of colours shift and hit his eye. As the crystal slips out unnoticed, it bounces and rolls out towards him. Heavy-headed, Cain feels his neck crack as the tension fights against his movements. Lifting his head, he eyes the object as it trundles like a translucent speck traveling through the chaos.
Grunting at the pain, Cain grabs onto the chair as it creaks under his force, hoisting himself up. Feeling his weight shift onto his feet, he winds himself into balance as the floor rumbles. Taking a step forward, Cain feels himself grow weak and stumbles but regains focus as he kneels down, his boots curving and holding him steady. Scooping the object into his palm, he ogles the crystal's tiny specks of reflected rainbows, wondering how something so small had managed to succumb him into this tangled mess.
Wrapping his fingers around it, he brings the crystal close to his chest, feeling his pulse escalate. Shifting his eyes up to witness the darting spells shoot across the space, a ballroom of lethal colours erupt in the scene. Sneering, he collects the shrills and sounds of anguish like a symphony in his head.
The chaos he breathes in has become one with him.
His bubbling trance is blocked as an abrupt force falls down on his shoulder, shoving him round to face distress on her once elegant face.
