The Awakening

Needed Information

•  This is a BWWM. That means that the main character is a black woman and her potential love interest is a white man. 

•  There are four elemental powers.  Earth, wind, fire, and water. Any born will always get an extra power that corresponds with their personality, like how Alphonso has healing abilities. Elemental powers develop around 1-5 years depending on situations and extra powers reveal themselves some time around the end of middle school and the start of high school (typically). It is extremely rare for a person to control more than one element but there have been people to control 2 elements. It is an absolute honor to control all four elements, but people often hide it because of the possibility of getting bullied in school or even kidnapped by the powerless. 

• Certain hobbies and skills require a certain element or even a certain extra power in order to participate in that activity. Football requires players to control either the earth or the air element. Certain hobbies and skills discourage and sometimes forbid the usage of a certain element or even a certain extra power, so things remain even for all. Football does not allow fire, flight, telekinesis, water, etc. so that the players have similar advantages and disadvantages

• The powerless are exactly as the name suggests; they are people without powers. Some are born without powers which some are happy with that and others not so much. It all depends on the situation. Some of the powerless have their powers stripped from them because of certain reasons. These reasons include but not limited to the unlawful use of their powers and the fact that their powers were destroying them from the inside out. All in all: there used to be a person who decided these reasonings but that person has yet to be reincarnated (like the avatar) so there is a council of four who either uses their combined powers to take away powers or they use a machine that is able to harness a small portion to do the job.

• Council of four is a group of elected officials who decide the fate of others as well as put laws into effect that either prohibit or allow the activity of something. These positions are for life unless their son/daughter is born of that same element and wants the seat (if of age). The council of four can only be elected/hold an election if a seat becomes vacant and no heir wants the seat. The council of four must be 25 years or older because sometimes age does not determine the wisdom a person holds.
