Rushing through the dim, cold hallways, I walk into homeroom and immediately head to the back corner of the room to sit down. First day of high school. So far so good. A boy with blue eyes and light brown hair walks in and takes the seat in the middle of the room. His hair bounces when he walks. A circle of people forms around him. Everyone seems to be trying to get his attention. A girl walks in and screams, "Austin Trick! You asshole! You were supposed to wait for me!" Another girl slams her hand down on the desk in anger. She must be mad that the boy's attention is on the girl that just walked in.
The Austin person talks back, "I'm sorry. I got nervous and I knew that we had the same homeroom so I figured that you would eventually show up here. You know how I am when I get nervous." He has one of those voices that bounces around the room with pure confidence.
"That's not an excuse for ditching me!" The girl switch back and forth between feet as she clenches and unclenches her fists. The light makes her hair look like it's on fire.
"I'm sorry. I really am." Austin's hand reaches out through the crowd. His hand is delicate like a girls.
She slaps Austin's hand away, "No you're not, you asshole!" Barring her teeth, the girl growls. That does not look good.
In a calm, steady voice, Austin continues speaking, "Amara please calm down." I don't think that is what needs to be said right now.
"Don't tell me to calm down!" Her fist flail at Austin, hitting the people around her. I can tell that people just don't like her.
"I think somebody needs a hug." At least this Austin guy is patient with her. People start to whisper back and forth.
She takes a step back, "Don't you dare touch me!" The whispers get louder. One girl even tries to push the main one towards the center of the group.
"Com'mir." That is so hot. His voice got really deep... it sounded so sexy. I wish that he would say that to me while trying to give me a hug... I don't know who he is though.
"No." She gets pulled into the group, "I hate you." He must have hugged her and calmed her down.
"There we go. See, all better." I can see her face through the crowd. Calm yet angry. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head when someone ran their hands through her hair.
"I really hate you." You can hear it in her voice that she actually likes someone's hand in her hair.
One of the girls in the group around them speak up, "Are you two dating now or something?" That must have been what people were whispering about.
"No... A girl and a guy can be just friends ya know." Most people don't believe that though. I've never seen it happen.
"Yeah sure." That was mean and sarcastic. A shiver goes down my back as more people enter the room.
The original girl attacks the girl talking shit, "Bitch!" This is a good show. The blue-eyed guy's face pokes right through the crowd. He looks right at me and smiles. Turning away, I start to fiddle with the hole on the sleeve of my sweatshirt. Shit he's staring! His perfect smile, his perfect hair, his perfect face. Oh my god I like him. But I can't be gay. Mom always said that being gay is a sin. Looking back up, I try to make it look like I am looking around the room. Shit! He's still staring!
"Austin! Pay attention! Which one of us is cuter?" They only want his attention. I can see them fighting for it.
Turning around, he answers, "Kelsey of course. I like tan skin and dark brown hair. It makes their face glow." So his name is Austin. Wait, I have tan skin and dark brown hair. Could he like me? No. Guys go with girls, right? Or did mom lie to me? "Tall and violent are adorable."
