Chapter One

The morning of my 18th birthday. Also known as the last day to feel happiness.

Everything was normal, to be honest, only until the accident.

As I was writing, my pen leaked and a natural reaction was to clean it up. So I did but it just caused more ink smudges.

I didn't want to make even more smudges so I sort of just left it there.

But I was still panicking because my mom might find it, so I tried to find something to cover it with.

After finding everywhere for something, I found an old book. Hopefully this'll do, right?

So I placed the old book on top of the smudges and collapsed in my bed.

And that's where I forgot to write happiness.

That stupid mistake costed me my happiness.

Well, after I collapsed into bed, my mom walked in.

"Hey honey" she greeted me with a smile on her face.

"Oh hi" I say lazily.

"You better get ready, we're about to send you off"

"Wait, I thought we were going later?"
I ask confused.

"I know, I just thought you might wanna go earlier"

"Oh yeah sure."

"Are you done with your list?"
She asks while looking at the paper on my desk.

"Yeah, I'm done"

"Okay, come down in 5 minutes."

"Yeah alright"

She looks at me then closes the door.

After she leaves, I pick myself up, grab the list, then head downstairs.

Nobody's downstairs. I look out the window and see my parents.

My dad notices me looking at them and begins honking the horn.

I pick up my backpack and run to the car.

"Took you long enough" my dad chuckled while backing up the car.

"Oh Claire, take this" my mom says while handing me a small wrapped box.

"Hmm? What is it?" I reply and take the box.

"Open it when you get there,"

I nod and put it inside my backpack.

A few minutes passed, and we arrived to the place. The place where all our dreams would come true.

Well, that's what they say.

My parents helped me get my luggage out of the car while I admire the huge building.

But something feels wrong about it.

Just getting everything you want when you turn 18?

No questions asked?

No catch?

No nothing?

My thoughts were interrupted by my mom who is now calling my name.

"Claire? Hello?" She says clearly confused

"Ah Um, y-yeah?" I stutter

"You were daydreaming, weren't you?" She asks sarcastically.

"Kinda, sorry"

"It's alright, I just wanted to say that you should get going" she says while pointing at my bags.

"Oh right,"

I pick up my bags while my parents wave goodbye.

"Goodbye, honey! Good luck!" My mom yells excitingly

"Yeah, do your best" my dad added

I nod at them and begin walking away.

This is the start of my new life.

A little sketchy, scary, and kinda dangerous but I'll try.

I'll try to make the most of it.
