Sawyer
I stared at her in shock, this was not good. Her best friend was human, she wouldn't understand why Vera had done what she had done. This was going to be a mess to clean up.
Sighing, I ran a hand through my hair, turning away for a moment. How could I even begin to fix this? I needed to call Vaugh, but first, I needed more information.
"Does she know?" I asked as Vera as I turned back around to face her. I watched as her face as she seemed to break apart completely. She gave a slight nod of her head as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.
"How did she find out?" I asked quietly, already knowing from Vera's reaction that it hadn't been good.
"Sh-she saw us kissing," she answered in a shaky voice, a very sorry shaky voice. I closed my eyes, running a hand across my face. I could tell this entire situation was going to be exhausting. Looking back up to her I gave her a stiff nod.
"Go to him," I said motioning to the closed door behind us, "I'll call Vaughn and take care of this..." I trailed off as she grabbed me in a hug.
"Thank you," she whispered, I gave her a small smile.
"Anything for you Vee."

I had decided that I was not going to change out of my dress, mostly because I wanted to ruin it like every other memory from this day and partially because I wanted to be able to dramatically dive into a body of water with it on should the situation arise. I could not say the same for my hair. This morning it had been beautifully and intricately braided by... She Who Shall Not Be Named, and I had done a marvelous job at pulling it out dramatically when I had gotten here. The poor veil had been damaged the most, in a fit of rage it had been mostly lost... Now here I was laying in a bed that didn't seem used at all in a large house with my wedding guests probably still wondering where the bride was... and I didn't care.
I didn't care that my makeup was rubbing off on the white pillowcase I was laying on.
I didn't care that my hair looked like a rats nest.
I didn't care that my dress was getting wrinkled.
And most of all, I didn't care about anyone, and I promised myself that I wouldn't let myself care about anyone ever again.

I was back to the floor level of the house, and I was still feeling off somehow. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I decided it was a problem for after Vera's issue was solved.
I picked up my cell phone, calling Vaughn.
"Hello." Yep, still a stick in the mud, how do you even answer the phone with a statement anyway?
"Hey Vaughn... I found Vera, and we have a bit of a situation..." I heard a sigh on the other end of the line.
"What is it this time?" he asked.
"Well, do you want to hear the good news or the bad news?" I asked slightly seriously, but mostly teasingly.
"Suprise me Shaw, I'm sure it'll be fantastic either way.
"Well, she found her mate," I decided to start off with the good news.
"That's... unexpected, but positive... was that the bad news?"
"I'm afraid it's not very positive... the groom of the wedding is your sister's mate," Vaughn took in a sharp breath on the other end of the line.
"Millie..." he said quietly, so quiet that I could barely hear him.
"How should I handle-" I was cut off.
"Sawyer, listen to me, I need you to find the bride, can you do that for me?" I was confused, but I trusted him - maybe a little too much.
"Yeah, I can do that," I took a breath, "Where should I look?" Vaughn was silent for a moment before answering.
"Check my room first."

"57...58...59...60! Ready or not here I come!" I shouted, pushing my then long hair out of my eyes.
"Vera! Millie! I'm gonna find you!" I shouted, running down the halls and knocking on doors. I like to play with Vera and her friend, and mom said she would give me $20 if I help keep them entertained.
I decided to search the living room first, Vera almost always hid there. I could see bare feet with sparkly pink toenail polish peeking out from under the dark curtains as soon as I entered.
"Vera! I found you!" I announced, laughing as she poked her head out with a pouty face.
"This isn't fair, you're older so you're better..." she griped, pushing the curtain away as she came to my side. I rolled my eyes, what a youngest sibling complaint.
This is usually how it went- I would count for Vera and Millie to hide, I would find Vera within five minutes, we would search for Millie for almost thirty. There had been a few time we had given up and she appeared hours later, a smile on her face. Millie has a way of making everything an adventure.
"C'mon, let's go find Millie," I told Vera. We headed upstairs first because she usually didn't hide on the ground floor.
We had searched for over thirty minutes when Vera began to complain.
"Vaughn, I'm hungry," she said, dragging her feet behind me. I sighed, Vera had always been a handful. It would be easier to find Millie by myself
"Go get a snack, I'll find Millie and send her down," I answered, kicking at the heavily carpeted hall. Vera nodded, a gleaming look in her eye. She was about to go after the ice cream, I just knew it. I watched as she left, and out of the corner of my eye I saw one of my sketchbooks leaned against the wall. So that's where that went... I quickly picked it up and decided to make a quick pit stop at my room.
As soon as I walked in, I knew something was off, and there she was... looking another one of my sketchbook, probably the most important of any of them. She looked up at me, a grin on her face.
"I like your comics Vaughn, can I read all of them?" No one had ever seen them, and I didn't think anyone ever would. There was something about Millie though, something that made me proud of the silly comics I had been writing for the past couple of years. I swallowed, hoping I wouldn't regret the answer.
"Yeah Millie, you can read them..."
