The boy whimpered. His relatives, if you could call them that, had taken him along on a business trip to Japan because they "didn't trust him not to ruin anything with his freakiness," and Ms. Figg had broken her leg and was in the hospital. They had arrived in Japan, checked into the hotel, and had started exploring at Dudley's insistence when things started to go wrong. First was the pressure. It weighed down his every step until he had to practically run to keep up with his so called "family." Next was the rumbling. It made the ground shake so no one could keep their balance. Third was the giant sword in the sky, breaking to pieces before tumbling to the earth. And then, nothing but darkness.

A flash of green.

Then a Voice.

"Tell me young one,"

"Do you accept this power?"

"Knowing it will not heal you?"

"Knowing that it will forever doom you?"

"Knowing that you shall only live a half life?"

"Oh."

"I see."

"Tell me then,"

"Will you exchange your current burden for another?"

An outstretched hand.
