"DEEEEEEEEEE!!! What do I wear?!" it was a week later and I was facetiming my best friend back home because I have no sense of style. I decided to wear my hair in a low ponytail and put some gel in my curls so they didn't frizz up. "Michael said be comfortable because we're going to be active."

"Ok Ava. I need you to calm down. What on earth are y'all doing?! So no dress because I was going to recommend that floral off the shoulder dress you have."

"The pink one?" I respond.

"Yeah but now I'm thinking go for like, a sporty cute look. What's the weather? warm? chilly? Cuz you could do your black jeans with the holes in em and you know that yellow shirt I let you borrow that you never gave back? that one. and your black leather jacket if its cold. and you have those tennis shoes you just bought. wear those. "

I started throwing clothes around trying to find the outfit she described. I sure did steal her yellow shirt but to be honest it compliments my skin so well. Ryan hated yellow but it was one of my favorite colors. It really made my dark olive skin stand out.

"FOUND IT! Dee, what if he doesn't like it?" I started getting worried. I don't even know his type so how will I live up to what he expects.

The one thing about Dee, she always knows what to say. We are like the yin and yang she's a fiery and energetic person and I'm more of a go with the flow type person.

"Let me tell you something Aves, if he doesn't like it he has to come through me, as your personal stylist I will take issue with that. But you need to stop thinking about what he'll feel towards you anyways. He asked you out for a reason. And if I know you, when y'all met, you were wearing an old Grambling hoodie, hair in a bun, and your glasses. You probably didn't have make up on either. So he's already seen you at your worst" she said through a smirk.

"You know what dee... you didn't have to come for me like that. but you are absolutely correct on all of it." I laughed. I missed her. She was more than my best friend. She was my sister. We used to do everything together from 2nd grade through college she was my ride or die. Even though the world has taken us on different paths she's the only person I call when I'm in need of a fashion emergency or any emergency for that matter. She offered to put Ryan in a jar after he cheated on me (she's always been known as the Voodoo Queen of Haughton). After she graduated from Grambling with her Business Degree she decided to go to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. One day I'm going to see her name associated with all the stars on the red carpet and I was already so proud of her. "How do I look?" I said cheesing at my phone.

The yellow shirt was perfect for the day because it was tight at the top but flowy at the bottom so I don't have to suck it in all date. then if it got cold I had my leather jacket to go with the black jeans and black tennis shoes. I was still wondering what we were doing because when I think of a date, I think dinner or something, not something active.

Since Michael insisted on picking me up to keep everything a secret I shared my location with Dee. "So if anything happens, you know where I'm at and who I've been with."

She rolled her eyes as we heard a knock at the door. In an instant I felt all the butterflies in my stomach. I haven't been this nervous or excited since I first met Ryan! I hope I don't make a fool of myself. "OK! Bye Dee! Love you!"

"TELL ME ALL ABOU...." I hung up on her before she could finish the sentence. I knew she would text me to finish that sentence later.

I ran to the door. I realized how hard I was breathing so I stopped to gather myself before opening the door.

I swung the door open and there he was.
