"Alice chop chop, no delay please." Aegis said as her heels clicked through the halls. Her lavender wings tucked behind her as to not smack everyone in the halls. Not that she'd care at all if anyone got hurt, she just didn't want to get her precious wings to get tarnished.

Aegis's assistant, Alice was a dark brown haired girl who was scuttling through the halls right behind Aegis. Her sea blue eyes were focused on the books in her hand and making sure they didn't drop onto the ground. Her pale blue wings fluttered lightly, as she used them to keep her balance.

"Councilwomen Aegis, where exactly are we going?" Alice questioned, her tone low and hushed as to not upset the older angel.

It took the women a moment to respond. Her long silver dress draped on the floor her jewelry clicking softly against each other. "The library." Aegis said flippantly, waving her hand so Alice could see.

Silence rang through the halls as the duo strode through them. None of the people in passing dare look at Aegis. She was someone who was feared and respected. The woman was one of the highest ranking officials in the palace. Anyone who dare go against her faced the wrath of a thousand suns. Well, everyone except a hyperactive teenager. A hyperactive teenager who had the protection of the ruler.

"By the way Alice..." She trailed off making sure the younger girl was listening. Glancing behind her shoulder to see eyes on her, she continued. "Once we get there if you could go get me a coffee that would be most appreciated. You may get yourself something as well."

Alice's mouth twitched into a semi-smile. "Of course Miss." She bowed her head quickly, as they passed another noble in the hallway. Nobody noticed how Aegis winked at them, and how they winked back. An unknown secret kept between them.

All at once, they had arrived at the tall double doors looming over them. Aegis pressed her palm against the gold plated door and pushed it open. The heavens were practically singing as they stepped inside. Silver plated books lined the shelves, a generally peaceful place to me in.

"Snowy." Aegis called out to a girl who was hovering at the top of one of the bookcases. The girl's brown eyes snapped to Aegis's green ones. She tilted out of the air surprised by the sudden voice. Her pale green wings flapped as she caught herself inches from the ground. Righting herself, her feet touched the ground and her wings folded behind her. She tucked her light brown hair behind her ears as she dusted off her outfit.

Snowy was the librarian in the palace, a place where a ton of knowledge was held. Years upon years of history was stored in it. It was mainly just about the peace, also about different rulers and what they did during their rule. They also housed fantasy, adventure, mystery, even a little bit of horror.

"So, what can I get for you?" Snowy asked. "Surely you couldn't have finished the books I lent you yesterday. You were just here yesterday. You should honestly get some fresh air or something." The female chided as she walked over to the main desk.

"I actually did finish them." Aegis said with a small hum. "Alice if you would." She beckoned the younger girl to place down the books so that's what she did. The angel carefully placed down the books and she backed away quickly.

Snowy carefully handled the books, inspecting each of them to make sure that they weren't damaged. Once satisfied a minute later, she placed the books beneath the counter. Elbows on the counter Snowy reiterated her earlier question. "Anything I can get for you?"

"Alice you are dismissed, please go fetch me a coffee." Alice bowed before scurrying off into the corridors. She softly heard Aegis's voice as she continued talking to the librarian. "So about the..."

Alice made her way to the cafeteria located in the center of the palace. She admired the draping banners along the way. The architecture of the palace always fascinated her. Once upon a time she wished to be an architect, but she landed with the duty of an assistant. However Alice still had hope, anything could happen after all.

After being lost in her thoughts for a while, Alice ended up at the entrance to the cafeteria. Blinking once in surprise, she laughed softly and shook her head. Jogging in she saw lots of angels milling around. Most likely since it was lunch time.

Scratch that, most definitely since it was lunch time.

Wandering over to the counter Alice quickly ordered the drinks for Aegis and herself. Tapping her foot, the brown haired girl waited patiently for the drinks. Her eyes wandering over the crowd. She could pick out the nobles in the fancy clothes, the maids scurrying around with food for lazier nobles, servers wandering around and delivering food. They were all parts of a puzzle. That puzzle being society.

"Here you are." A masculine voice snapped Alice out of her thoughts. Quickly thanking the man she quickly walked out of the cafeteria holding the pair of coffees. The outside of the cups warmed Alice's hands as she headed back to the library.

Once she arrived, before she even took a step inside she was stopped by Snowy. She had practically materialized in front of Alice making her jump a little bit. "Sorry no food or drinks allowed in here. We don't want anything to happen to the books."

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Aegis just told me to bring her a coffee, so that's what I was doing." Beano's eyes shifted from the coffee to somewhere inside the library. After a moment Beano turned her attention back to Alice.

Shaking her head Snowy replied, "She's not here anymore. I'm not exactly sure where she went. I suppose double the coffee for you."

Alice frowned slightly glancing down at the two drinks in her hands. "O-oh. I see. Well uhm, thanks anyways Snowy. Goodbye." Alice walked away from the library as Beano shut the doors once more. The blue eyed girl couldn't help but feel hurt that Aegis had left her.

Though, she shouldn't have been surprised. Aegis was a councilwoman, someone you didn't question. Someone who did whatever she wanted.
