~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I couldn't stop thinking about the emo nightmare. Why was he plaguing my mind all of a sudden? Yes, I offered to help him get popular in exchange for tutoring, but something felt off about these thoughts.. It's honestly probably nothing, but it will continue to bother me until I see him again.
Waiting for that dreadful class to end was well.. dreadful. Virgil and I were yet again meeting after school and I could not wait to see what the day will bring. He texted me about halfway through fifth period to let me know we were going to my house after school. Not exactly sure how he got my number, but I assume he got it from Patton or maybe even Logan. I didn't mind much to be completely honest to myself.
I met Virgil by the football field after waving goodbye to Patton. The monochrome boy was leaning against the fence that surrounded the bleachers, typing something on his phone. When he looked up, his grey iris's met my blazing red one and my heart skipped a beat. "Afternoon emo, how was your first day of popularity?"
"it's interesting to be seen. You'd think I'd be used to it by now with my lack of color." He replied with a sarcastic chuckle. He kicked off the fence, walking closer with his hands shoved in his pockets.
I laughed, shrugging. "You'll get more used to it the longer we go on." We started walking, side by side as if we knew each other for years. "So, I was thinking of adding some color into your wardrobe as well as work on your sour personality."
Virgil gave me a side scowl. "What's wrong with my personality?"
"Nothing too bad, you're just gonna need to start being nicer to people. Keep up appearances and get you some friends. I can introduce you to a few of mine." I hooked my thumbs through my back pack handles, smiling.
"Whatever." Virgil let out a bit of a huff, going quiet for the rest of the walk to my place.
When we arrived, I stopped Virgil before went in. "Just a quick heads up. My parents aren't exactly the.. most accepting. Try not to talk while we walk to my room." I was nervous to say the least. Virgil didn't exactly look like the grade A student and my family wouldn't be afraid to comment on it.
We went inside and set our things by the door. My father was thankfully at work, but my mother stood in the kitchen to prepare dinner. "Welcome home Roman! How was class?"
"Good mom, I'm going to my room to do homework with my friend." I replied, lightly shoving Virgil along down the hall. I hoped she didn't know his darker aesthetic.
"Oh! Well have fun dear. I'll call you when dinner is done." She went back to cutting potatoes. Thank god.
I opened my door for Virgil, shutting the door after him. I watched him look around the brightly decorated room with a bit of a confused look. It may be a little flashy, but it looked good. He sat down on my bed with a sigh, looking up at me. "Well, what color were you thinking Mr. Scarlet?"
Mr. Scarlet, good one. "As I mentioned before, I think purple will suit you quite nicely." I watched his expression change to annoyance with a hint of something else.. What was it? Was he uncomfortable? Worried? I can't place it.
"Purple huh? I guess it can be considered a darker, scarier color. Kind of like the Crayola Halloween crayon boxes..?" He cringed.
I laughed, rolling my eyes. "Something like that. I don't have much purple, but we can mix it in slowly. Maybe add a bit of purple eyeshadow to the corners of your eyes." I started digging through my closet, looking for anything even remotely purple.
"Sounds easy enough, though I'd rather stick to black eyeshadow." Virgil stood up, walking over to my desk to snoop. I didn't mind it much considering I had nothing to hide besides my poor report cards.
I managed to pull out one purple scarf that I got at a Halloween bash forever ago. When I turned around, I didn't expect Virgil to be peeking over my shoulder. I squeaked, causing him to jump and fall back. He went to grab something to stay up, that something being me and we both ended up toppling over. I caught myself on my arms which so happen to be positioned on either side on Virgil's head.
We were both frozen there, red faced and wide eyed. Did that really just happen? This is so cliché... Just then, my door knob started to move. I'm screwed!
When the door opened, instead of one of my parents, there stood someone that I questioned if it would have been better if it really was my mom. In the door, there stood my brother.
Heeey, did ya miss me?
I hope yall enjoyed this chapter lol.
Have a great day my lovelies
Take it easy my fellow guys, gals and non-binary pals! Peace out!
