The first incident was in Qing Qing City. An extraordinary child was born who radiated light. After that, reports of people with superpowers popped up all across the globe. No one knew what was causing these "quirks". Before long, the supernatural became the totally normal; dreams became a reality. The world became a superhuman society with about 80% of the population possessing some uncanny ability. Our streets look like scenes from comic books. With the world swirled with chaos and confusion, a new profession dominated our collective consciousness: the age of heroes.

"Kotone!" My mother yelled from downstairs. It was most likely time for me to go to school, considering the tone of her voice. Sighing, I quickly grabbed my bookbag and ran downstairs.
"Yeah, I know," I chuckled, slipping on my shoes at the front door, "I'll get there on time, don't worry!"
"I'd just hate for you to be late," She nervously smiled, "besides, you should've been up a long time ago, young lady."
I sigh, "Well, you're not wrong. I slept in a little later than usual."
She handed me my lunch for the day, tired neatly into a box, "Now you'll have to wait until lunch to eat. Tomorrow I expect you to be up before seven, you hear?"
"Yeah, I do," I had to agree with her, or I'd be even later than I already was, "Alright, I've gotta go, mom-"
"Just do good work today!"
"I will!"
Shutting the door, I began dashing towards my middle school. We didn't have much left of the yeard before we had to start thinking about where we want to go for high school, whether we want to be heroes or regular, everyday citizens. Considering what heroes do, I don't think I'd ever want to be one: risking my life for people I don't even know and for what? A few extra dollars? A please and thank you? It doesn't benefit my future, so what's the point?
Either way, I had to think of where I was going or what I was even going to do. Damn, I hadn't even thought at least that much through it.
Deep in my thoughts, I didn't even realize that I was running into a street pole, face first. As I doubled back and felt my head, bystanders laughed at me, calling me clutz or whatever. When I looked back at my hand, it was half-way covered in blood. Just my luck that this was to happen to me.
I didn't have any bandaids or wrap on me, so the only thing I could do is use my quirk: Night Flower. I have the abilities of a butterwort flower: creating a hypnotizing scent and then shooting vines covered in all sorts of different flowers. I don't have full control over it, so I did the best I could at the moment. I used a thin vine without any spikes for the base and covered in with as many petals as I could, placing it over my head. Good thing I had a pretty quirk to make my injuries look like a fashion statement.
I couldn't run without getting a massive headache now, and I had to get to class quickly before the bell rang. Looking both ways, I speed-walked across the street, making sure no cars were coming. Which none were. A little bit later, I finally arrived at school. Just in time to successfully make it to class on time.
"Mr. Asabi, I'm so sorry I'm late!" I bowed, hoping for his forgiveness.
He simply chuckled, "It's alright, Unishi. Just get to your seat and take off that headband."
