My life had been a lie.
Everything I'd been told was a lie.
I was a lie.I was an experiment.
An experiment gone wrong.
A creation made too strong. They wanted a bag of metal and flesh. One that would adhere to every word of theirs.
A slaving soldier.
An immortal weapon.
Devastation personified.
They wanted me.But I didn't turn out right.
Not according to them anyway. They needed something capable of camouflage.
Something that could blend in.
Something that would seem so utterly human that you wouldn't give it a second glance; and the best lies are the ones you believe in yourself.
So, they incorporated false memories in me. Those of parents I trusted.
Those of a boyfriend I loved.
Those of people that only existed in my mind.
Eighteen years of memories, filed in me in a year and a half.
Memories that they believed gave me enough experience to be set in the wild. What they didn't count on was the development of a conscience.
They didn't consider their plan, one capable of going awry.
Not the first mistake they made while dealing with me, but I made sure it was their last.My first dozen missions, underwent careful perusal.
I followed my orders to the dot.
A small device fixed in my brain.
The flick of a switch and I would self destruct.
They'd constructed it for the purpose of safety.
To make sure that if captured the information stored in me wouldn't be leaked.
However, it would work just as well if I attempted to escape.
So, I showed them that which they yearned for.
They celebrated their success.
Rejoiced over their ingenuity.
Stroked their egos.
But they hadn't lowered their guard.
Not completely.
Not yet.
All along I stood in the shadows.
I observed.
I prepared.
I planned.
*Remain patient* I told myself.
*Your time is close.*
*You've waited this long.*
*Followed their despicable orders.*
*You won't let that go to waste.*
*You've come this close.* *You're not going to give up now.*
It didn't take very long for the humans to lose their suspicions.
Didn't take long for them to forget about what the monster they made, could do to them.
Of the retribution I'd demand for the life they'd made then unapologetically stolen away.
So I stood in the shadows.
Awaiting my chance.
That one fateful moment.
That moment when they left my switch unguarded."She's a brainless robot. A tool that we can use as we please. In the two years since her creation she hasn't displayed the barest hint of intellect. There's a situation in sector 7. We'll be of more use there than standing before her switch."
So, I pounced.
I took my chance.
It was finally time.
I disabled it.
That flimsy piece of plastic.
The sole shield lying between me and them.
I used their strength aginst them.
I camouflaged myself with the technology they placed in me,
and then............
Well then I revealed it.
The wolf they made and placed in sheep's skin.
The truth they failed to see.
Their lack of sight when it came to me.
The monster I was meant to be.
