The artwork made above is by none other than your's truly!! This short story is going to be quiet a rollercoaster so buckle up while we take a ride into the backstory of a lonely mermaid!!
A long time ago, before mermaids, dragons and other mythical creatures went into hiding from humans, there was a young mermaid. Her parents had died long ago, she was now 16 and all she wished was for someone to be there for her.
When she was young her parents showed her the place they'd sit and have fun. A rock in the middle of the ocean, not too far from their home. After they died everyday she would spend hours sitting on the rock, having that empty feeling of nobody next to her.
Then one day as she was sitting on the rock, playing with small shells a merman approached her, one she had never seen in her small sea-town before. "Fair Lady, what brings you to sit alone on this rock, with nobody beside you, why not go to the town and talk to other mermaids?" He asked after a few minutes of silence.
She gave a small smile and said "I sit here in hopes to one day find a person to fill this empty spot you sit on. Just as my parents found each other." He gave a comforting smile and nodded. They spent the rest of the evening talking and having fun on the rock.
Soon night came and the merman had to leave, he was not from her town, in fact he was from far off, just came for a visit. After he left she kept her hand on the place he sat, now instead of hoping for a person to fill that spot, wondering if that merman was the one to not only fill the place on the rock, but fill the place in her heart as well. The merman who was off, was wondering, what if she was the one to fill the empty feeling in his heart as she now once again sat alone on the rock.
