the windows in jungkook's bedroom were so grand, they put every other bit of glass in the world to shame.
taehyung had gotten rather used to waking up to the view of seoul in front of him- not intentionally, of course! no, it's just that it would get late. and jungkook would insist. and he'd offer to take the couch. but, taehyung would say it's no big deal.
and they'd end up a tangled mess of we shouldn't or we can't but, it always ended up with let's do it anyways.
it was the thrill at the top of the rollercoaster, right before the drop when your stomach is in your throat, your eyes half open because you're afraid to look any further.
the same was true for their unspoken relationship- both too timid to ask about the next step or about the future. both too scared of what might happen if they take the drop.
"you're up?" jungkook's arms were exposed, a line of black tattoos a stark contrast against the white sheets he was still covered with.
taehyung glanced over from where he was sitting at the edge, a cup of tea in hand- he had already been up for half an hour, "admiring the view..."
"i hope you're talking about this one!" jungkook joked, motioning towards himself.
the older giggled softly, noting the way that the man in bed looked so defeated for some reason. he had seemed to stay (mostly) sober, knowing that he had to meet with a judge in regards to his divorce and his daughter. the two things that weighed the heaviest on him.
jungkook wanted to confide in taehyung about all of it. he seemed level-headed and willing to listen, something that he couldn't say about many but, when they were together, it never seemed like the right time to bring it up. they were always tangled in bliss, sneaking little pecks in-between late night sushi dinners and picking out new tile for the backsplash of the kitchen.
in a way, tae had become his best friend, far beyond the housework he had been hired for and he didn't want anything to ruin that.
it felt pathetic as he thought of it out loud. his best friend, that got paid to hang around him. his best friend, who he had known merely weeks- but maybe, that's what happened when you met your person. you just connect instantly.
taehyung noticed the lingering silence, the way that jungkook seemed to be gripping nervously to anything he could get his hands on, "you okay?"
the younger nodded, avoiding eye contact as he shifted onto the floor, the hardwood sending an instant chill up his spine, "m'fine, just going to take a shower!"
"kook?" it was a demand for him to stop right there, "what do you want for breakfast?"
"i'm not hungry..." he said it a bit coldly, feeling the way his stomach twisted at even the thought of having to put something in his belly this morning.
taehyung felt a bit dejected at the action, trying not to take it too personally. today was a big day for jungkook, one that was beyond their relationship.
"alright, at least let me make you some tea to settle your stomach." his fingers trailed the younger's skin as they crossed path, leaving goose bumps along the entirety of it.
"i'd like that..." jungkook lifted tae's hand to his mouth, a gentle kiss planting itself on the back of each knuckle, entranced by soft skin and thin digits.
both separated, never breaking a stare until they were both behind opposite doors. it was odd, the sparks that seemed to erupt, the way they were so in tune, and it all seemed so perfect-
until a topless taehyung almost knocked namjoon over.
"taehyung, what are you doing here so early?" the purple-haired man didn't even seem phased that the younger was half naked, a half drank cup of tea in his own glass as he was making his way to the kitchen for another.
tae could only mutter, "making jungkook some tea..."
"big day for him!" apparently his mind was elsewhere, away from whatever the two of them had been doing, "big day for everyone. i'm nervous of the outcome."
tae wanted to pry, to dig deeper into the details of the day but he didn't want to betray a trust that had barely formed, "mm.." he only hummed in response, letting namjoon know he was listening.
"is jungkook up?"
"i think he's showering."
"i'll go lay out his clothes for him- specific suit he should wear for today! i should have done it last night..." namjoon seemed to be talking to himself more than anyone in particular, his nervous pacing creating an aura of anxiety around the entire room.
taehyung wondered what exactly today would bring. he had heard the words divorce hearing, custody case- it all made sense in the timeline of jungkook's failing relationship but, the younger seemed oddly unbothered until this morning. had he really dismissed the thought of it until now?
the older stirred mercilessly at the mixed green tea and honey, hoping to create a bright spot in the negativity of the day.
"how do i look?" jungkook seemed to have finished showering, his wet hair hanging in long, curly strings and a half unbuttoned shirt covering his torso.
he looked undeniably fuckable, a modern businessman with a bad boy side; taehyung blushed at the thought, "you look... incredible!"
the younger gratefully took the mug, slurping up the liquids and humming in delight, "help me with my tie?" from the back pocket of his pants he pulled a simple, slim-line, black strip.
taehyung hadn't worked one in years but it came back just like riding a bike, his hands delicately fiddling with the fabric until each end was perfectly even and jungkook looked absolutely flawless, "perfect."
namjoon appeared from the hallway, ignoring the moment unfolding as he swung a set of keys around his finger, "come on kook, we gotta go!"
"that's my signal; i'll see you tonight?"
taehyung nodded nervously, "see you tonight!"
