Trouble Starts

I heard Claire on the loudspeakers, asking where I was and what I was doing, and to get back to the observation room.

Y/n- Okay, girl, I'm gonna go tell Claire what you did, stay here, you won't be in trouble.

She whined and stuck out her claw to poke me, but this time I backed away, and she looked down in defeat.

Y/n- Hey, don't do that, you're still my good girl, I'll only be gone a minute, wait for me, okay?

She didn't look up at me and I took it as a yes, walking out of the trees and waving at Claire before heading up to the room.

Claire- Ah, y/n, there you are, I was beginning to... is that... blood on your shirt?

Y/n- Yes, unfortunately Nessie got ahold of another person.

Claire- No! What do I tell their family, how do I tell them? This thing is out of control, this was a mistake.

Y/n- No. She's not out of control. All she knows is killing, ripping things apart for food. You can't blame a wild animal for doing its natural behavior!

Claire- Y/n! Calm yourself! I am still your superior and can take away your job if I so choose! This thing shouldn't exist! It's a mess of dinosaurs all crammed into one body!

Y/n- Alright, fine. I'm calming down. And that may be true of her, but she's an independent being, not some mindless creature made to kill. She's got a personality, emotions, feelings.

She isn't yours to threaten.

Claire- Excuse me, threaten? When have I threatened her in the slightest? She's an animal, not a person. She can't comprehend anything, she only knows what her instincts tell her.

Y/n- An answer to your second point, she's very intelligent, showing signs of both love, hate, and curiosity. And as the answer to your question, you left the microphone on, she heard everything, including you yelling at me. She may not understand the words, but she knows what your intent was with yelling at me. Again, leave us alone, you're distracting her.

Claire- Hmph. Fine then, I'll leave for good. I'm only coming down here for routine check ups, otherwise it's all you, I'm tired of this.

Turning on her heel, Claire left and I was finally able to come back and see Nessie.

Y/n- Neesie! Come out, it's okay now!

Hearing her name, Nessie walked out of the trees, looking me in the eyes again. She bent down and let me touch her snout again, releasing a low vibration that I could tell was like a purr.

Y/n- Okay girl, it's just you and me now, alright? We don't have to worry about Claire, she's only going to come over once in a while, so I need you to behave, can't have you eating more people.

She whined at this command, knowing she'd have to give up her old ways of life, instead bringing in a new way of eating. She looked at me with sad eyes, and huffed at me staring back, letting her know I was the leader.

Y/n- If you kill more people, they'll take you away from me. They'll hurt you. I don't want that to happen, so don't eat anything other than what comes out of that, alright?

She nodded, and we both walked over to the lift, sending it down and bringing it back up with a pile of meat. She roared in excitement and dug in, leaving a small amount left.

Nudging me, she pointed to the pile and whined.

Y/n- That's for me? No, you eat the rest, I have my own food.

She groaned but ate the rest anyways, then walked over to the edge of the pond, falling asleep. I took this opportunity to leave and head back to the park, ready for a break. I got back to my room and fell asleep, my thoughts still lingering on Nessie.
