History has to be the most BORING subject of all time. Our teacher, Miss Cunningham, speaks in the most exaggerated voice which could easily annoy the absolute fuck out of you. But that's okay...I'm much more focused on this Griffin chick. Who does she think she is? Calling me "doll" like that? She doesn't even know me...or...maybe she does? She knew my name before I could even introduce myself to her. Not to mention....she noticed I was feeling a little nervous. Was she really paying that much attention to me?
"Miss Karson!" Our history teacher yells across the room. "Are you listening?! When I call your name, PLEASE say "here". I am taking roll, young lady!!". I could feel everyone's eyes on me. The blood rushing to my face was also evident and even made a few people laugh. How embarrassing..
"I- u-uh sorry! Just...daydreaming I guess..." I say jolting up but then hanging my head. I need to focus. This is nothing but a distraction. A very....pleasant one.
"Well. Missy, in case you haven't learned here quick enough, school isn't for daydreaming. Now class, let's all look over the syllabus I just passed out to you all. One of you will read the whole thing aloud, please." She says suddenly ignoring my existence.
"Jeez...my bad. Who pissed in your cereal this morning...?" I mutter under my breath. I could've sworn she heard me...she kinda looked my direction after I said that...oh well.
"Alright! Miss Elaine. please read aloud for the whole class. Go on."
I look up suddenly. Elaine?? Shit, I didn't know she had this class next period. I could've walked with her after our Jazz period. Man...that damned Miss Griffin...
"Uh. No. I am NOT reading this whole 5 page syllabus. You're out of your mind, gramps. Choose one of those nerds over there, they'd be practically dying to read." says Elaine with a disgusted smirk.
"Excuse me missy, but I chose YOU. Another outburst like that and it'll be detention. It's your first day of school, I'd hate that for you." Miss Cunningham says in the most sarcastic tone possible.
"Ugh fine." Elaine sighs.
I'm just glad she didn't choose me after I decided not to pay attention. Haha. Hopefully Elaine isn't mad at me though. Miss Griffin completely catching up to me was not the plan haha. Hmm...I get the feeling I'm starting to obsess over this. Nah. It's only the first day.
Elaine finally finishes reading the syllabus, and just in time too. The bell has rang and it's now time for 3rd period, another music class for me. I catch up to Elaine and start to walk with her.
"Sooo I saw Miss Griffin catch up to you after 1st this morning" She says with a somewhat evil grin.
"Mmm I'm not particularly fond of that face. What gives?" I ask with a nervous chuckle. She knows too much...
"Wellll I noticed she asked you a lot of favors and she knew your name. And also called you doll....which is really weird ha."
"Okay you noticed it too!! I'm not sure what the deal is. She seems kinda....into me?" I couldn't find anything else to say. It's so much weirder saying that out loud than in my head and honestly it made me gasp.
"Oooo Karson's got a crushy-crush!!" Elaine coos.
"I do not!!! I've told you, I'm straight! I mean if you wanna call it a girl crush sure but i'm not attracted-attracted to her. Like yea she's cute but....uh....she's our teacher. It's just...wrong..." I say kind of sadly.
"Ughhh when are you going to figure out you're not completely straight. You realize it's okay not to be right?" Elaine says with worry in her eyes. She puts a hand on my shoulder, but I don't feel a thing. I just can't agree with her. I just don't see myself liking women in any way...I don't think?
"It's just a girl crush okay. I'm straight. Nothing but straight. Okay?!" I raised my voice a little. Elaine doesn't seem convinced.
"Well there's something going on through that little head of yours and I'm gonna find out soon enough. I'll catch you later okay. Have fun Karson hahaha" She says nudging my shoulder and walking to her next class. I roll my eyes.
Man she's so persistent but that's all the more reason to love her haha. As I step foot into the band hall, my heart instantly picks up speed. Gosh I'm so nervous....I-I don't know why.
"Welcome back, Karson. I've been looking forward to seeing you again." Miss Griffin greets me at the door, except her tone is more...warm? Damn this woman...I know I'm not crazy. Something is up.
"Oh thanks! It's good to be back...again haha." I say. God why am I so nervous. She makes me feel some type of way.
"I'm glad. Now are you playing your instrument for this period?" She asks. She's up to something.
"Uh...No ma'am. I'm your...TA for this period".
Fuck....I didn't realize I was a teacher assistant for her. This is gonna be awful. I'm so not ready for this. Lord help me.
"Oh? An assistant huh? Perfect." She says with a cunning smile. "Please would you mind doing me a few favors then?" I don't like the way she looked me in the eyes. It's like she's asking something from me but Im not sure. Maybe I'm just imagining things. I'm gonna have to talk to her after class.
"Yea no problem! What can I do for you, Miss Griffin?" I ask.
"I need you to go into my office and find the score set on my desk. I need you to print out a full band set of the Warm-Up Fundamentals and the piece I've picked out for your band period in 7th."
Woah she already trusts me with these things? Well alright. Sounds pretty easy.
I was wrong. I totally forgot. I don't know how to use the printer. I've never had to before...uhhh. I really don't want to ask her how to use it. Uhhh.
"Dammit!" I curse to myself.
How could I have been so stupid. Why didn't I bring it up. Now I've got to ask for help which is something I hate doing. But before I could even turn around, Miss Griffin was leaning on the doorway, arms crossed. I guess she figured I hadn't started copies yet. She always catches me by surprise.
"Need help, Doll? Here. The password to the copier is 87601." She says. I wasn't prepared for what she was about to do. I just stared in silence.
Miss Griffin slowly walks over to me, never breaking eye contact. I back myself into the copier, finally realizing there's no where else to go. I'm stuck. She raises a thumb to my chin and says in the most sensual and calming voice,
"I guess you've forgotten to inform me you were not aware of how to operate the copier. Silly Doll. Aren't you glad I've come to your rescue?"
I'm absolutely speechless. This can't be happening. Am I dreaming? Is it bad that....I kind of like it?
