Few months later...A girl is shown walking on a footpath, her dull dupatta caught in the wind along with her long hair. There were small earrings on her ears instead of big jhumkas. She kept a straight face as she walked.
Yes, it was Preeta, not Preeta Arora, just Preeta, she didn't like calling herself Preeta Arora, she couldn't call herself Preeta Karan Luthra.
Saying Preeta missed him would be an understatement, she died the second he died. She was as good as dead on the outside as well, her promise to Karan was the only thing that was stopping her from committing suicide.
She wasn't the cheerful, bubbly person everyone knew. She was a stern and strict person, who rarely showed any emotions or expressions.Everyone changed after he left. Everything changed after he left, yet no one spoke of him. There were no photos of him anywhere. Everyone was acting suspiciously normal, as if nothing happened, as if he never existed.
Preeta often wondered why, she then came to a conclusion that everyone was too sad, too miserable, but she didn't know the real reason.
She reached Luthra house for dadi's treatment. They welcomed her as usual. She went straight to dadi's room.
"Mein andar aa sakti hoon?" She asked the elderly woman who was sitting across the room.
"Ajja beta" Bani replied not bothering to smile, Preeta was used to it, she didn't want to see fake smiles.
She did the treatment and gave some medicine. Preeta went downstairs and saw the Luthra's having lunch. Rakhi noticed her coming.
"Ajja beta, lunch kar le humare saath" she offered with a smile, easily recognized to be fake.
"Nahi aunty, aap log continue kijiye." She replied not wanting to bother them.
"Ajj humare ghar mein pooja hai, tum apni family ko leke aana" Rakhi said
"Ji aunty" she replied trying to get out of the house as fast as she could. She knew if she stayed for too long she would burst into tears, memories of him were in every corner of the house.
The memories surrounded her, it was like a cage trapping her, but maybe, she didn't want to leave the cage. She left after saying bye to everyone, she reached after a while.
Sarla and P.Dadi were the same, but there was something different, the same something that was off with the Luthra's.
Later, she informed Sarla about the pooja, Sarla decided to there early to help with the preparations. She asked Rakhi if it was okay if they came early and she gladly accepted.
Preeta on the other hand, didn't want to go.
"kyu nahi jaana beta, tu thik toh hai na?" Sarla asked concerned about her health.
"Mein bilkul thick hoon, bas maan nahi kar raha" she replied trying to convince her mother.
"Chal theek hai, lekin baadme ajjana" Sarla replied.
"Ji maa" Preeta said.
"Maa mujhe bhi ghar pe rehna hai" Shrishti urged
