Chapter 2: Jeff Anderson

Math class is my first subject. It sucks because it's too harsh for mornings, we have to think  until our head explodes right after we eat breakfast. I got bored right after Mr. Anderson started talking. "Psst. Melly, I'm bored!!" I poked Melly. "Rina, stop whining, listen to Mr. Anderson!" huh, I guess Mr. Anderson's insults really DID get into her. I feel bad... oh well, I'll just doodle. After what seems like ages doodling in my desk, I checked the clock and it says 8:50 A.M. You can do this Rina, 30 more minutes left! I tried telling myself over and over again that I won't at least have wrinkles when math finishes. Then, Mr. Anderson disturbed my thoughts by slamming the Math textbook close loudly. So loud that most kids flinched. But not me, I wasn't going to show him that I got scared after what I did yesterday. "Class, I would like to tell you an announcement. You are going to have a new student in your class this year." This got me interested. I hope it's a girl! Melly stared at me for a second, "sweetheart, Rina, I know you like girls but I hope it's a boy, that way you still have hope." I raised my eyebrows, "Hope?" she smirked- I can't believe she just smirked at me! "Well, if he doesn't know you since kindergarten like all the other boys here, he wouldn't know how unattractive you are. Then, all you have to do is be all pretty around him." I rolled my eyes at her, this is absurd. I don't need anyone to fall in love with me. Finally, it seems like the whole class has the same question. Is the transfer student a guy or a girl?! "He's a guy in case anyone's wondering." He told us, obviously looking annoyed by everyone. Well that's disappointing, I don't care anymore, I don't care about guys!  Just then, someone knocked on the door. Hmph. Must be the transfer student, whatever. I continued doodling. So I looked back at my desk where I drew sponge bob burning the Krusty Krab while Patrick is breaking Squidward's clarinet apart. I just love drawing Sponge bob and Patrick having a war. I got so distracted that I didn't even realize that the transfer student's been introducing himself until he sat beside me. Oh My God, did he just sit beside me?! I bit my bottom lips. I didn't want him to sit there- but I didn't want to talk to him either. sigh... no choice but to let him stay there. After that, I spent my whole day feeling awkward. He was in my every single class- and he sits beside me in all of them!! What have I done wrong to deserve this?! It seems that he is popular with the girls too. They keep staring at me- those girls who used to love me so much because I help them with their stupid love problems. They are such a fake, before, they were all over me but now- just because he always sits with me,(and stares at me) they hate me. I have a feeling that they're going to start gossiping about me soon. I was walking by myself in the quiet hallway since Melly was asked by a teacher to do some errands. I say hallway but it's only called a hallway because that's the only way we can get to our classes. It's a long narrow path with only a roof top in it and a cement ground. You're basically outside. It's beautiful, in a way, it looks like a bridge because it's bent upwards and there is a pond with lots of colorful fishes underneath. It looks the prettiest in fall- the leaves are either red or orange and they just falls down the ground slowly..... I love Autumn. I was taking my time looking at the view because we're basically high up the mountains. No one else lives nearby. We're in the middle of nowhere, forest surrounding us. It was like I'm staring at a paradise when someone interrupted my thoughts. "It's beautiful, huh." I flinched and gasped a bit but calmed down immediately. "Hahaha, sorry for scaring you, I didn't mean to. Hi, nice to meet you, my name's Jeff- Jeff Anderson. I just realized that we haven't talked yet even though I sat beside you in all of my class." This can't be happening. Could this be the new dude? "Oh, um, uh.... RIna, Rina Ress." I blushed and looked down at the water, where I could see my own reflection. Oh my, why am I blushing? I feel nervous for no reason. "I see, that's a nice name! Rina, we should go, we'll both be late for Science class." He started walking and stopped. Now what? He turned around looking confuse, "Rina? are you coming?" my eyes widened from being embarrassed. "OH, um, right!" I started walking, eyes staring at the ground only. Why is he waiting for me? We just met today and I don't even know him but he's being nice around me. He also makes me want to look at him... but I refused to- I refused to look at him because for some bizarre reason, I have a feeling that it would change something important.
