Agent Adams
I.D. Gr3216A
October 1, New York City, 7:30 PM est
Agent Adams had been following the family since World War Two, and they knew they had gotten far too close. Assignments should have been just that, assignments. Yet he'd been unable to avoid getting attached.
His first charge, Charles West had been young when he had first started looking after him. And he'd stayed with the boy throughout his life. Eventually after his demise he would continue to look after his offspring. They'd been tolerable, a terrible feat to be sure. So tolerable in fact that he'd become attached. Adams had already asked to be reassigned, twice. And twice he'd been ignored.
As Adams lurked in the shadows of Charle jr's room he began to reminisce about his time with Charles, or at least Charles sr. Despite all his time looking after Junior he'd never gotten as attached to him as he had for Charles senior. He'd also never been in as much trouble, although he kept telling himself that was a good thing.

1930s England
Charles senior had always been reckless and full of passion for life. A direct contrast to his grandson, who would always second guess his descosió su to ensure safety. Junior had always been careful, quiet, and thoughtful. Still, Adams knew he was young by human standards at only 4 years old.
Senior, had been a reckless child. He loved to climb and watch the stars. He'd always had a fixation with the sky, with flight. Eventually, it would take him to join the RAF (Royal Air Force) as a pilot. Only a year later the war would break out.
Charles would go on to pilot a Sunderland plane, a patrol bomber, which meant that under the circumstances he had one of the safer jobs. And oddly enough many of the pilots there had other agents assigned to their care, not that they knew of course. As they went over drills, patrol, and daily chores - agents would gamble - they continued living as if nothing was amiss. For a while the agents were able to go unnoticed but as danger emerged some were forced out of anonymity.
Adams had always known that danger would be perpetually intertwined with jobs at the agency. They'd been clashing with their opposite for decades at that point, as far as he knew at least. Always fighting to keep others safe, Adams knew his job was important, and had always been proud of it. Now as he saw the atrocities of war he wondered how anyone could be so cruel. Never had he seen such ruthlessness amongst a people. It saddened him to know that this was not the first instance nor would it be the last.
Danger kept emerging as the days passed, forcing agents to begin sabotaging planes in order to keep their charges safe. This, however, did not always go as planned. As lives continued to be taken, Adams kept losing hope. His own charge had been safe so far, yet he was sure that it wasn't meant to last.
It happened one cold morning when Adams heard about the threat looming over his charge. Charles, unaware as ever continued on his daily routine. As information of the threat trickled in Adams became more desperate to find a solution. A way to protect his charge. The rumors whether true or false posed a very real threat to Adams and his job. And while it had never been safe the dangers were becoming all too real at this point. So, taking the matter into his own claws Adams glanced at the plane. The Sunderland plane glistened in the early morning and looking at the plane a memory flickered in his mind. One of the other people that would fly in that plane also had an assigned agent.
Adams scrambled to find the agent. As he went around looking for help his mind kept returning to the impending dangers that loomed over Charles.
Once the agent had been found Adams went about revealing what he'd heard. In that moment they boarded the plane ready to wreak havoc upon the vehicle in order to prevent their charges from stumbling across the peril that awaited them.
The Sunderland had been sabotaged just in time to prevent them from going on their usual patrol, and without any space planes they were forced to stay in attempts of fixing the plane. Yet both Adams and his companion were fairly certain that they would not be flying any time soon. A disaster had been averted and it was just the beginning in a series of unfortunate events that would follow Charles throughout his life. All of which Adams would prevent from turning into complete catastrophes.

The door swung open as Thomas, Charles Jr.'s father entered the room. With his mind back in New York he observed as father and son played with toy planes, many of them similar to those Charles had once flown. He looked down fondly remembering his old charge and wondered how where all that time had gone. Yet he failed to notice the glowing blue eyes in the corner, watching his every move.
Once Junior had been put down to sleep Adams stepped out into the night. As the cold breeze passed by one of his coworkers emerged, presumably checking in about the reassignment he'd asked for.
"Good evening Agent Adams," came the stern voice.
Adams nodded in acknowledgement. "Am I being reassigned?"
"It depends," his voice trailed off.
"On?" Adams quirked a brow.
"Your views," they took a step closer as Adams' eyes widened in surprise.
"You don't need to do this," Adams replied, trying to keep his voice steady as he reached for his communication device.
The agent's eyes flicker to Adams' moving claw before smirking "I'm afraid I do". Taking a step he looked at Adams before severing his connection to his charge. Looking back through the window the agent gazed at Charles Junior before going in.
Three hours later Thomas and his wife would find their child's room empty, none the wiser on the missing agent that had watched over them for so long. They mourned their child, not knowing that they weren't the first in a series of crimes that would change the world forever. And they would certainly not be the last.
