On a dull, rainy day, as I drive on a long, bumpy road, soon to arive to a town named Haddonfield. I moved to begin my new life. I recently graduated from college and my parents died when I was little so I don't have any relatives to live with besides my Aunt Sherril and Uncle Arron, but I attended a college hours away and I didn't want to move all my stuff back by myself. So after college I looked for big, old houses in Haddonfield. I found this big, old, white house and immediatley bought it. I thought I would fix it up for me, my future husband, and our future children for when I grow up.
When I got to Haddonfield I just drove around for a while looking at the interesting buildings. It was a great little town. It had that old charm that I liked. The buildings were tall brick, and some had vines growing up the side. There were a few little get together places. Little boutiques and restraunts to visit. There was also a library, and of course a City Hall and the Haddonfield Firehouse. In the center of the town, on the corner, there was an old building made of light brick, that had the word BANK on it. It was the original bank and it was still running. It was a very nice little town.
So after driving around for a bit I started to look for the house. I was on Lincoln Avenue, a few blocks away from main street, when I found it! It was everything I thought and more! The outside of it was lovely! It was originally white but since it had been abandoned for a long time it was a dirty brown with broken, Navy blue shutters, and a big porch on the front that was close to collapsing. The inside was real roomy, and large. It has 3 average size bedrooms that had rotted, old, green wallpaper starting to peel off. The bathrooms had broken pipes and the shower was moldy and disgusting! The kitchen was medium sized with tiles for the counter and floor but the tiles on the floor and counter had dirt in the cracks. The cabnets had no doors and the fridge had old food left in it and it didn't work. The living room had nasty, ripped up carpet and holes in the walls. The basement was unfinished, dark, and dingy. Plus most of the rooms had broken floor boards. It needs a lot of work on both the outside and the inside but I think when it's done it will have been all worth it.
I unpacked the several boxes from my truck and moved them into the living room. It was late and I was tired, so I took my warn out mattress and drug is up the creeky stairs, drug it across the floor to my room, threw it on the floor, put some sheets and a pillow on it and hopped on in. I knew this was a lot of work to take on but as I layed down, I looked up at the ceiling and said to myself, "This is going to be great!"
