CHAPTER 1

•••

She was always so quiet. Not a single noise could come out of her. Some people thought it was just because she was mute. She is a mystery that no one can solve.

She walked down the halls, looking for her dorm room. It was at the end of the hallway where the lights were broken and was so dark that she needed a flashlight to see. She didn't bother to care. Her mind was already occupied by something else or rather, someone else. She opened the door and entered.

She was not surprised to see a man in her dorm. Two men to be precise, sitting beside each other and seemed like they were having a serious conversation until she walked in.

She looked at both of them with a dead gaze as if she was expecting them, but she wasn’t. The silence lasted for a few seconds then she closed the door behind and started to look for her room.

"Uhm, excuse me? Are you sure that you're in the right- '' the deep voice got cut off as she closed the door of her room. She settled in and grabbed a change of clothes and a towel then headed for the showers. As she was about to go towards the bathroom, a bark caught her off guard. She looked down and saw a small pup whose fur was a shade of black and brown.

It growled and wouldn't move out of the way

It growled and wouldn't move out of the way. She kneeled down and slowly reached out her hand to the pup. At first, it was hesitant, but slowly, it started to move forward to smell her hands until it completely let her pet him. "That's weird," the deep voice spoke in surprise, "he doesn't usually do that to new people.” She got up and went straight to the bathroom; not sparing the man a glance, then closed the door.

The man, however, stood there in wonder if she was the new roommate or not. She did not give the aura of a regular first year college student and he felt it the moment she made eye contact with her. He could say that it is a talent, but sadly, it wasn't. It was an instinct that was built within him.

"So that's your new roommate?" the other man he was with asked with a brow raised.

"It seems like it," his answer.

"She's a complete mysterious stranger. Can Kim Taehyung handle her?" teased the muscular man.

Taehyung rolled his eyes at his friend. "You're helping me deal with her or your sorry butt will be kicked out of this dorm, Jeon Jungkook."

Jungkook scoffed and grabbed the chips on the table then started munching on it. Taehyung sat back beside him again and went through his phone. Jungkook did the same and as they were both silent and minding their own business, a bark broke the quiet atmosphere. Both men turned in sync and saw the girl holding the pup in her arms.

It was wagging its tail and licking her face. Taehyung never failed to notice how unfazed the girl was with everything in her surroundings. 'Maybe she has a soft spot for animals,' Taehyung thought. "His name's Yeontan," he spoke with a small smile. The girl had neither a smile nor a frown as she set the pup on the ground then walked in her room.

"She doesn't like you, but she likes Yeontan. Jealous?" Jungkook teased, but his smirk faded when he saw how serious his older friend was. "Tae, you good?" he asked and Taehyung slowly turned to look at him. "You think she's single?" the question left Taehyung's mouth mischievously.

Jungkook gave his friend an 'are-you-kidding-me' look which Taehyung responded to with a smirk. Jungkook laid back, sighed and shook his head. "We are not doing this again, Tae, so you better lower down that F-boy energy of yours," Jungkook warned.

Taehyung scoffed. "You're just jealous-" "Last time we made a mysterious girl fall for you, she fell hard to the point where she installed cameras in your car and room, so no, I am not jealous and quick question, do you want history to repeat itself or do you want it to rhyme?" Jungkook reminded him while looking at him with a straight face.

Taehyung stood up while laughing then went to the kitchen. "At least I can get girls to love me. You haven't even had your first kiss with a girl since you were born," he mocked his younger friend. Taehyung grabbed two beers from the fridge then turned to make his way back to the sofa only to see an offended Jungkook up on his feet.

"Well at least I don't get stressed out with relationships and I've never lost money on girls who just become strangers after 2 or 3 months," the youngest bursted out. "Okay, chill. Why are you so offended if you’re okay with being single?" Taehyung emphasized the word ‘single’ to annoy Jungkook a bit more as he handed him a beer.

"Whatever," Jungkook responded, rolled his eyes, grabbed the bottle of beer then sat back down. Taehyung chuckled then sat beside the annoyed maknae while sipping his drink. It was indeed going to be a challenge to crack open his new roommates shell. The word mysterious is a big understatement to describe her. She makes everything about her invisible besides her physical appearance which could clearly be seen by everyone.

She was like a ghost.
