There's nothing like drinking blood after sex. It's like a drug, but maybe even better. Which probably explains why they're sitting on opposite ends of the sofa at midnight, wearing bathrobes with nothing else underneath and each with goblets of blood on hand.

"I don't know where we are going from here." Demetria took a sip from the goblet. "Are you going to France? I mean, 'di ba that's where Elders have to stay?"

Victoria tuts and reached for her hand. "I am not going anywhere. This is where I should be. With you. Besides, I can't let my bastard of a brother lay his hands on you. Nakita ko 'yung ginawa niya kanina. And how dare him say he loves you?"

She couldn't help but laugh at Victoria's overprotectiveness. "I can take care of myself. You don't have to sacrifice the entire clan just because you want to stay here and protect me."

Their eyes lingered for a moment. "Come with me." Victoria finally said. She knows she wasn't actually pleading. It's more of a command – an order made out of love.

"What are we, really?"

It wasn't the answer she was expecting from Demetria.

"What are we? You are asking me that? Dem, we kissed and had sex. What do you expect me to say? That we are friends? Playmates?" Her laughter filled the room, although they both know that none of this was funny.

Demetria shifted in the sofa so that she's facing her completely. "Vic, I am serious. Ano ba tayo? Because I can't go on questioning myself and my decisions. So, let's be clear about this. Do you love me?"

"I do. I love you... so much. And a vampire can only dream, but will you please, please come with me?"

---

Victoria will be proclaimed as the head of the Elders in France. It wouldn't be an easy task and she knows it because she has seen how it goes firsthand. Her father became the head of it once, but then the entire clan turned against him and drove a silver knife to his chest which pierced his heart and caused his death.

But now, modern-day vampires couldn't seem to care less who gets proclaimed as who. They're all scattered in different places in the world, and who knows what they're all doing? The only rule is to not get caught.

"Hey, can we talk?"

She turned to see her brother standing by the doorway.

"God, you look disheveled. Ano'ng nangyari sa'yo?"

"I was drunk last night. Couldn't actually remember how I ended up in my own bed." He poured himself some whiskey. "So, head of the Elders huh. Dad must be so proud up there... or maybe down below. We'll never know." He laughed.

"Stop. I never wanted this."

"Then endorse me." He smirked.

"You?" she raised an eyebrow, "Endorse you to the Elders? I might as well be committing suicide. Sarili mo ngang buhay hindi mo maayos." She grabbed the glass of whiskey from his hand. "And will you please quit day drinking? If you're thirsty, there's plenty of blood ready. You know you can't die even if you don't take it."

"Do you love Demi?" He finally blurted out.

"I don't feel obligated to answer that." She walked past him, ready to leave him on his own. But he was quick to grab her hand.

"Alam ko kung ano'ng ginagawa niyo. Vic, you are playing with fire. You know that isn't right."

"Kailan ka pa naging concerned sa kung ano ang tama?"

"Does she know? Vic, you are breaking all the rules here and you know it."

"Know what?" Her voice is starting to tremble out of anger.

"That you were the one who converted her or do you want me to tell her?"

She slapped him across his face. "Fuck you! Wala kang sasabihin sa kanya, naiintindihan mo ba ako?"

"You can't control me, Vic." He gave her his most devilish smile. "If you can't control your urges, ako na mismo ang magsasabi sa kanya."

---

Victoria might have spent the rest of the day thinking. She just asked Demetria to come live with her in France and although she still haven't gotten an answer, she knew in her bones that she would want that, too.

She does love Demetria – but at what cost? She can't bear the thought of Demetria knowing the fact that she was yanked out of her normal life for Victoria's own selfish reasons.

She stood up and walked towards the window. It's almost three in the afternoon and she still hasn't seen her. But how could she? She's been avoiding her all day. She pulled back the heavy velvet drapes and stared out the window. Right then, she saw Demetria getting out of her car. God, she is gorgeous. Her long hair is being blown away by the wind, her face flushed, and her dress hugging the shape of her body so perfectly.

How could someone you've always wanted become someone you just might not have?

She wouldn't want to be too dramatic, and in any normal day she would've just laughed at the fact that Annie Lennox's song started playing just as she was about to cry.

Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
It's beating like a drum

It beats for you, it bleeds for you
It knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs

...To search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
No greater love than mine
