For some... FASHION IS EVERYTHING. For others... it is but it isn't.
I happen to be the latter. I love fashion, or should I say... my alter ego lives for fashion.
In my daily life, fashion doesn't factor in at all. My mainstays are oversized t-shirts, leggings, tennis shoes (white or black... ONLY!) and twisted hair. That's the kinda of lady I be and yes... I intentionally used improper grammar. I'm so laid back, I really could care less what I wear as long as my t-shirts cover my big butt (hehe), my clothes are clean, and everything matches nicely. I'm sure some people will look at this and feel some kind of way about my truth, but this is after all, MY TRUTH.

I AM NOT A FASHION PERSON.
When I was younger, I was so crazy about fashion. The person I am now and who I was then are like night and day. Honestly, I fell out of love with fashion when I had my second child. I made sure my kids were cute and dressed nicely, but I kinda forgot about fashion as far as I am concerned.
Working full time and taking care of five kids became my life. The extra time needed to mull over clothes and hair choices seemed like a waste to me. So, I chose to focus on other more important things like... going back to school, getting a degree, making and using my money more efficiently, and building up myself as a person.
I have never been one to follow in other people's footsteps for fear of being let down by those people. In truth, we are all humans and we have a tendency to make mistakes.
Because I love being me, I was so surprised to find that writing gave me a chance to delve back into an old passion of mine. I guess no that my children are grown... all except for my 16 yearold, I can spend time daydreaming about something other than my children.
Before I begin to write the most important components of a story, I hammer down who the character is and what their life looks like. Fashion plays the greatest role in explaining who the character is and what that character has or hasn't accomplished.
My alter ego personally has a thing for flashy automobiles, banging music, and fabulous clothes. For some reason, I feel it's essential to showcase a character not only by describing their educational background and the school they attended. I think it is so important to give my readers a vivd description of the type of person my character is by describing the vehicle they drive, the clothes they wear every day, and the homes in which they live.
From their home... to the their vehicle... down to the shoes on their feet, fashion helps me to say what the character thinks of themselves and what image they want to convey to others.

NOW... LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION?
When you write a story, what steps do you take to create the character's wardrobe? What is your process for deciding what their home will look like? When you choose an automobile, what was your purpose for selecting that vehicle? What music do you include to make the story POP?

SUPPORT IS EVERYTHING
*Without the support of friends and die-hard fans, indie writers often go unnoticed. Please show these authors how important their work is by not only supporting them yourself, but also give the best most priceless gift you can give by sharing their work with others and encouraging others to share these indie authors' works as well. Let's work together to get the necessary word out to boost these indie artists.*
