Chapter 2

The Next Day..

An annoying, repetitive sound suddenly filled the room,it was Charlie's alarm clock indicating that she had to wake up and go to school.
She sat up,turned off the alarm and looked at the time.

'Oh shit'
She thought, realizing that she was already atleast 10 minutes late and that class has already started.
Charlie quickly put on the first thing that she could find,brushed her teeth and took her backpack.Even if she had the money to afford breakfast, she wouldn't have the time to eat it right now.
She tiptoed down the stairs
to not wake up her father since he was going through a lot and dealing with her mother's loss.As she quietly walked into the living room she saw a few empty bottles of beer, a half full bottle of wine and her father sleeping on the couch, his face betraying his dreams. She slowly took the second pair of keys laying on the table where the TV was and then proceeded to go to the front door.
She opened the front door, exited the house and locked it. She then took her bike and rode to school.
As she arrived at the school, she ran inside and headed towards her classroom.

"Sorry I'm late"
Charlie blurted out.

"Ms. Black! You are late again, this is the sixth time!"
Mr.Johnson, the math teacher, yelled

Charlie sat down at the back row of the class and took her math books out. Math was Charlie's least favorite subject and she wasn't quite good at it either.That is why most of the times Mr. Johnson would have to get her attention back to the lesson instead of her doodling in her math book.
Once class was dismissed,she went to the school's yard. She put her hands in her pockets, her green eyes gazing down at the concrete as she walked towards the bench when she bumped onto someone.

"Hey, watch your step dude"
AJ said.
AJ was Charlie's closest and most trusted friend, he knew her from when he was 3 years old, as hard as anyone ever tried, they could never be separated by anything.

"Hey AJ, how are you doing?"
Charlie smiled.

"Im doing okay I guess,my father is stressed out about work lately, I think my old man needs to take a break."
AJ said.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that."
Charlie immediately frowned slightly.

"You don't need to be sorry, it's not your fault he is kind of a dick sometimes"
He said jokingly.

They both started laughing.

"But enough about me, how are you?"
AJ asked,once they stopped laughing, concerned.

"You know.. The usual."
Charlie sighed,visibly tired.

"I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this.. I wish I could somehow help.."
AJ frowned, but then suddenly he started smiling again.

"Oh, I know! What if we go to the cinema for a movie tonight? My treat."
AJ asked, happy.

"You don't have to.."
Charlie smiled, lightly blushing from embarrassment.

" Oh come on, when is the last time since we had fun together?"
AJ told her.

"You might even get to invite the special someone"
He nudged her arm with his elbow, teasingly.

She blushed, her cheeks changing to a deep shade of red.
"No way I am doing that"
She said,if her cheeks could turn more red that moment, they would already have.

"You sure you don't want to invite Chloe?"
He smirked.

"Okay, I'll try, maybe.."
She muttered.

When school ended for that day, she quickly tried to find Chloe,when she saw the blonde haired girl standing infront of the school gate

'OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, HOLY LORD'

Charlie tried to suppress a squeal.

She walked towards her, her heart beating like crazy, her palms getting sweatier the second.

"Heeyy Chloe.. Would you maybe want to come to the cinema with me and AJ to watch a movie tonight? ,If you don't want to it's okay, I know you may be busy and I'm not forcing you to do anything, Im just saying and I should probably just stop talking now.."

"Do you realise how adorable you are?"
She smirked

'DISBHDISBWJDBWJKDQHHHHH-'

"Uhhhh, yeah--"

'Really Charlie? You dumb simp'

"Okay, I'll come,here is my number"

Chloe took a piece of paper, wrote her phone number and gave it to her.

"Text me the location and the time, see ya Charlie"
She winked at Charlie and went away.

'OHH. MY. G. OD, DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN?'
Charlie thought to herself, her heart bursting from joy.

'AJ won't believe his ears when he hears about this'
She smirked, triumphantly.
