EDWARD
Velociraptors. Prehistoric chicken demons. Whatever you call them, he could see their eyes gleaming in the distance, waiting for him to settle down so they'd gain an easy meal. "When the hell did they go un-extinct?" he thought, drawing the pair of glassy black knives he had as long as he could remember, which wasn't a long time (unfortunately).
The raptors charged. Too fast for him to strike back at all, and pinned him down, like a serpent stuck between the claws of an eagle. He tried to wriggle out, as the chicken demons bore down on him.
One of them landed on his chest, its talons hovering mere inches from his neck. "get off!" he screamed at them, trying to throw them off. unfortunately, they're soaking wet and determined to get dinner tonight.
Lightning arched over the forest canopy, as rain continued to pour harder than ever. With all the strength he could muster, he threw off a couple of death chickens off, and grabbed one by the snout. Some of them scattered off in fear, as he stood up again, with cuts all over his body. he released a few fingers, allowing the creature to breathe. "give me a reason to let you go." But internally he's screaming: why the hell am I talking to this thing?
After a short pause, he let go of the creature, who landed with a cackle-like honk before stumbling back on to it's feet. "I'm gonna let you guys off this time..."he muttered, returning to his makeshift rain shelter, pulling a blanket out of thin air- heavens know how this worked, but he's too tired to care, and laid wrapped up inside one.
Minutes later, he felt a familiar weight standing on him. Cat, he thought. And then he remembered: he doesn't have a cat.
He snapped wide awake, to see a 2-meter long dinosaur casually sleeping on top of him, just like a cat.
"Uh... fuck it." He went straight back to sleep.
Little did he know, he was being watched.

this is tribute to my velociraptor companion Xnaps in Durango: Wild Lands (this game is now offline, do not install), my faithful companion in game for over 2 years.
fact check
in contrary to Jurassic Park, velociraptors are only 0.5 m*2m and covered in feathers and originally lives in deserts. I will get to why they're in a forest soon.
Velociraptors are pack hunters, but don't necessarily form bonds with pack mates. But modern reptiles like garter snakes DO form social bonds, so how velociraptors interact is still a wild guess.
velocis do not sound like that weird utahraptor thing in J.P.
