I woke up to a scratching at the door, I sat up slowly and grabbed my knife from beside me before sneaking towards the door slowly. I looked through the peep-hole to see the corpse start to walk away.
Let me tell you something. Life sucks being in a zombie apocalypse, yup zombies, you know the brain eating monsters you see in the movies. They're slowly taking over but the worse than that is being alone in an apocalypse. Let me introduce myself, I'm Skai i'm 20 and its been 3 years and 166 days since the infection hit my hometown of Dallas Texas, It had been almost a year since i lost Zina my twin sister to the virus and that was the last time i had seen a living properly functioning human being. I wasn't completely alone i had my rottweiler Ollie who was currently standing guard by me, I had taught him how to take down and kill the feeders so he was great to have around.
I crawled back into bed and tried to fall back asleep but it was near impossible, every time i closed my eyes i could see her cold dead eyes coming towards me or puling the trigger on her, no it wasn't her. it had taken over she wasn't there anymore. she was dead.
After a while i gave up on trying to sleep and decided to get up and scout around for some food, I changed into some different clothes and gathered up my bag, knife, gun and some water for the day before slipping on my boots and clipping Ollie to his leash and heading out the door padlocking it behind me, unaware of what the day was about to throw at me.
