Maya couldn't believe it. She had to go to a new high school, meet new friends, and figure out how to fit in- without being bad. NEVER. She swam through the halls. Oh how she wished Eleanor was with her, her best friend from her OTHER high school. She finally found her first class- English. the topic on the board was, " Describe your summer in less than 100 words. " Well at least that was an easy one... TERRIBLE, HORRIFIC, UNFAIR... TYPICAL.
Last summer, Maya's brother was expelled from school.
Again.
He was always doing these kind of things, breaking rules, vandalizing school property, in other words, being BAD. And he was always being suspended and yelled at. And he NEVER seemed to care. But then, one time, he took it too far. There was a girl he liked, and he was drunk and... well... it just went downhill from there. Maya shuddered just thinking about it. Now she had to move schools, come here, and be alone.
Again.
TYPICAL.
Maya walked into the room, squeezing through the hugging friends, kissing couples, trying to find her seat in the back of the room, thinking about how she would never hug a guy like that, kiss him, rap her arms around him, if it was the last thing she did. she edged to her seat trying to see through the masses of people, to find her awaiting chair-
And then she saw him.
Tall, muscular, black hair. Skin tanned like melted caramel, brown eyes deep enough to dive into, but shallow enough to hide mysteries. he was laughing, a low laugh, beautiful and mysterious just like him. and then the unthinkable happened. He looked at her and smiled. A discreet smile, like saying "And who are you?" He winked at her. Smiling he mouthed,
"What's your name?"
Barely able to breathe,Maya whispered back,
"M- Maya."
He smiled again, and said,
"Zayn."
And then he winked.
The teacher called from the front of the room,
"Alright class settle down! Sit! SIT! Has anyone looked at the question on the board? oh and we have a new addition to our school! I'd like you to meet our new student, Maya! Maya?"
Maya didn't hear a thing.
