I examined the amount of money I had in my hand. After counting all the quarters and 1 dollar bills I came to the conclusion I had $10.00. I stuffed my hand, full of money, in my coat pocket and fidgeted with the quarters. I walked into the 7/11 setting a budget of $5.00 for myself.
That's enough for 2 packs of Izzlers. I thought to myself. I quickly went to the candy isle to see the packs of Izzlers. I looked up to see a girl with beautiful black hair, that reached her shoulders, to the left of me. I quickly looked away and grabbed my 2 packs of Izzlers. The black haired girl turned her head to look at me.
"Izzlers, huh?" She said, trying to hold back a laugh. "Uh yea." I shyly replied. "No offense but Izzlers are weird as fuck, like who came up with that?" She started laughing. I could feel the blood rushing to my face and I became red. "I don't know." I mumbled.
"Well, are they better than twizzlers?" She asked politely. I realized how beautiful her voice was, and I began to blush. "Uh, yea. They are pretty good. They are easier to chew." I said awkwardly. "Hmm interesting, they are basically twizzlers without the twist right?" She said staring down the pack of Izzlers I had in my hand. I nodded. Then she put her arm in front of me to grab a pack. "I'll try them." She smiled at me, and i got a glimpse of her dark brown eyes. They looked like almonds.
An awkward pause lingered between us.
I quickly went to the cash register with my Izzlers in hand. Just breathe, I thought to myself. I inhaled the fresh sharp air, and slowly exhaled. I put my Izzlers on the brown plastic counter. "Will this be all?" The cashier asked not even making eye contact with me. "uh- yeah." I said awkwardly. "That will be five-dollars." The cashier said, finally looking me in the eyes. I noticed how bad his dark circles were. His square glasses inhanced them, making it seem like he hadn't slept for days.
I looked at his name tag, in which read Dan. What a basic name, i thought. The thing about basic names is that they can be elegant in a way. They are short and simple, but sharp. They exhibit a feeling of...perfection? As I started to walk out, I heard behind me, "I'm sorry but that isn't enough money ma'am," Dan seemed to be both sincere but a douche bag when he said it. I turned around, and I quickly blurted "I'll pay for them." I looked at the ground, feeling my face heat up again. The black haired girl quickly said "You don't-"
"How much are the Izzlers?" I cut her off, making eye contact with Dan.
"They are two-dollars and fifty-cents." He said sharply.
I quickly grabbed two quarters and two dollars from my pocket, and slammed it on the counter. I then turned around and started heading out of the door. "Wait up their Izzler girl!" the black haired girl yelled from behind me. I felt her grab my hand and turn me around. "So your just going to leave, and not let me thank you?" She smirked. I felt the butterflies in my stomach grow. "I uh, I don't know." I knew my face looked like a tomato at this point. "Let's go outside." She said softly. She opened the door, and i quickly walked out. When I turned around, she sat on the concrete, with her back leaning against the building. She patted on the piece of concrete next to her, gesturing for me to sit there. I sat down with the 2 packs of twizzlers in hand.
"You didn't have to do that for me you know." She looked at me, with her almond eyes.
"I know, but I thought you should be able to try the Izzlers."
"I could've stole them." She quickly said.
"There are too many security cameras in there, you wouldn't have a chance." I said, sounding like a nerd.
"So you've tried stealing here?" She raised an eyebrow.
"No, I'm just observant." I looked away from her face. She scooted closer to me, and i flinched. I felt a chill run down my body.
"Do I make you nervous?" She said laughing.
"Yes." I replied breaking eye contact with her.
Her smile dropped. "Oh I'm sorry I-" I cut her off, "It's not your fault, I just get nervous around pretty girls." DAMN-IT KATE YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT. "I'm sorry, i'll go-" I quickly got up.
"No wait-" The black haired girl pulled me back down. "What's your name?" She smiled. She seemed warm and inviting.
"Kate, but you can call me Kit." I looked her in the eyes, and I felt my heart drop to my stomach. Damn was she pretty.
"I'm Lily, and you can call me Lily." She laughed, which caused me to laugh. She quickly stopped laughing.
"Can I get your number?" She tightened her fists, in fear I would reject her offer.
"Yeah, yeah, sure." I smiled, I wanted to scream from the rooftops I was so happy. She gave me her phone and I typed in my digits. I quickly gave her, her phone back. "Well I got to get home, text me." I winked. God when did I
get this confidence. I usually can barely even talk around girls, I thought to myself.
