Tick, Tock. Tick, Tock.

What a sound. So hypnotising.

Tick, Tock. Tick, Tock.

Again, and again.

Tick... Click, Pick, Trick.. Brick, Prick, Dick?

"So what's Miss. Daydream, got in that mind of hers today?" A faint sound hollers. I feel a sharp blow to the back of my head.

"Shit! What the hell was that for?" All eyes in the room turn to me. Great, my second day here and I'm already making a fool of myself. She only replies with the glance of humour.

"You look like a tomato." She jokes

"Guess you're playing the name game so if I'm tomato then hell you're a mouldy potato!" I retort.

"Can Ms Wood please come to my office immediately." The speaker boomed above me, taking me and my colleagues by surprise. I gulp, worried. Kim walked to me and patted me on the back, as if I was going to war or something.

"Good luck." She smirks.

Yeah, I need it.

I head for the lift and step in taking deep breaths.

Great, 9 in the morning and it's already my 1,000th time in Mr Parker's office!

I was only in there an hour ago!

CAN'T HE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE?

"Good morning, Ms. Woods." Rachel Mr Parker's assistant smiles at me as I pass.

Can people actually have perfect teeth like that? They're fake, I just know it.

"Just call me Eva." I smiled back, nothing compared to her heart warming grin.

"Okay ..Eva... BE CAREFUL!" She panics as I crash into a nearby plant.

"Aww Shit! That hurt." I mutter.

Great! Welcome bruise I hope you have a nice time on my head. What's wrong
with me? I can't even see a plant!

"Eva, is that you?" A deep voice questions.

"Yes, sir."

An exasperated sigh echoes from the door and I try to hold back an eye roll.

"You'd better come in then."

I step into his decorative office, filled with all things expensive.

My head hurts, like a stabbing feeling, knocking into my head. This really sucks.

"Yes sir, sorry sir." Just perfect, now I look unprofessional and an idiot. Fire me already.

"Please mind your language, it's says on your contract in chapter 28 section 1a paragraph 3.4 line 12-29, that NO slang words should be said in office times, I hope I don't hear that again."

"Won't happen again sir."

"It better not. Right, so I called you here because I want you to know about your first assignment. Have you read the latest edition of The Metro?"

I nod my head uncertainly.

"Indeed I have." He taps at his desk.

"Then you'll know how their sales have rocketed like NASA's successful mission." He inhales, irritated. "That of course, means a big dent in our reputation. I'm asking you to be our saviour." He looks me dead in the eye.

"You think you can do that?"

Should I be feeling excited. Because I'm not. I feel like I've hit rock bottom and burying myself into a hole to cower in. I swear to God there are better journalists than me!
