Unwanted Company

   After smoking a blunt I spray the apartment with air freshener and make sure the smell is gone. It is now it just smells like fruit. There is a knock at the door. I look through the peep hole it's Jaden. I wonder what he wants. As I open the door I still make sure the latch is in so it opens part way.

    "Can I come in" he said.

   "No what do you want"

   "I just want to come in and apologize for what I did" he says.

   I look back at august still on the couch.

   "This isn't a good time right now come back later" I try to close the door but is foot is in the way. "Ok ok you can come in". I don't even tell him about august being in here I'm so petty. I unlock the door and he walks in. He sees august sleep on the couch.

   "Who's this" he said loudly.

   "I forgot to tell you I had company over. But keep your voice down he's sleep" I said.

   "You want me to keep my voice down. For him" he started yelling. He grabbed my wrist."Bitch don't you bring anybody into my house without asking me"

   August woke up. "Jessa what's going on" he looked at jaden then at me.

   "Listen here you stay out of this" Jaden said.

   "Listen here you must not know me so I advice you to to let go of my friend or we gonna have some issues"

   "August stop you don't have to do this" I said.

   "Shut up bitch" Jaden said before he slapped me.

   August looked at me then at jaden. August made a fist and hit jaden in the face knocking him out cold. August then took jaden unconscious body and dragged him outside .

   "I really didn't need you help" I told august as he walked in.

   "What would you have done the let him keep beating on you. Shouldn't no man put his hands on a woman my momma taught me better" August said.

  It's been a while since August talked to anybody in his family and it was sad. Every since his brother Mel died he hasn't talked to his family.
