First Encounter
"Hibari-sama, it's of the upmost importance to be on your best behavior. You need to be kind and gentle to the lady coming to see you today. Remember your manners, greet her accordingly, and never speak unless spoken to. You are not a child anymore, and you're the sole heir to your grandfather's company. Make us proud, young master." With a quick pinch of his tie, Mao nodded towards her young master before exiting the room.
Hibari Kyoya, age 18, was now considered the next heir to his grandfather's company. Apart from his mother, he had never known his father, and he never wanted to. Yet, on his mother's deathbed at the age of 10, Hibari Kyoya was heading towards his grandfather's without any background information on the other half of his family. Over the years, he had learned the trade, but now that he was of age to assume his position, his grandfather deemed it wise to offer him a bride. Little did he know Hibari Kyoya would not need a bride to take over the company, it was a mere scheme his grandfather and his nursemaid of eight years, Mao, planned to allow their young master to bloom into a man worthy of a wondrous woman in his life.
"Hibari-sama," Mao knocked, slightly opening the door the make sure her young master hadn't escaped yet. "The Kaito family has finally arrived. Your darling, young bride looks magnificent; they've dressed her in a lovely gown. Come now, come say hello to your bride." Mao quickly rushed with a comb in her hand and straightened out his hair, then his suit, and later his jacket. She noticed her young master's silence, Hibari Kyoya was never a man of words, but she would imagine he would, at least, have a word or two to say about this. Oh well, as long as he was on his best behavior for the little lady, she didn't mind his lack of speech; after all, it would add to his mysterious factor. Mao giggled to herself, and pinched his cheeks, "Come now, young master, at least smile for your new bride," and pushed him out the door.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
You stood by your father's side and listened intently to every word he told you. Today was one of the most important days of your life, according to him. He kept saying it was for the good of the company, but you knew better than that. Your father loved you to the ends of the earth, and he would never put you at risk. That's why you were excited today; you trusted your father would choose someone respectable and kind, a true gentleman. Even if the rumors of the so-called demon of Nami-chuu showed your future husband to be rough around the edges, you wanted to know the man behind the title. "Ahh- hello, I'm Kaito Kayako. I'll be in your hands, in the future."
You smiled towards the rigid man in front of you. Rather than scary and violent as the rumors say he'd be, he was dressed in the latest and expensive fashion, his manners were well kept, and he even established eye contact.
"Herbivore, let's go." He murmured in your direction, as his nursemaid squeaked beside him before giving him a glare.
You softly giggled; never in your life has anyone been so different with you. Even though you were just insulted by him, it seemed like a breath of fresh air. While watching for his movement, you followed him to the back and entered what seemed to be the kitchen.
Your future husband walks to the fridge and takes out a paper bag and a pot hanging atop the stove, and shoves it in your direction. "Make me hamburger steak, herbivore, I'm hungry right now."
You take another look at him before bursting out in laughter. Oh, yes, Hibari Kyoya will do just fine. "Grilled or fried?"
"Whatever you choose, herbivore. Just make it edible and tasty."
You turned on the stove fire and reached for the frying pan instead. "Yes, Hibari-sama."
"Kyoya. No wife of mine will be formal with me."
~~~ Extended Ending ~~~
"Hibari-sama! What, on earth, are you making your future wife do for you?" Mao shrieked when she saw the young lady of the Kaito family in an apron near the stove. She looked over her young master and noticed his slicked back hair was once again messy, his tie was lazily thrown on the kitchen counter, and his jacket lay on the chair beside him as he put his feet up on the counter, and watched his future wife cook for him. "Ah, I got hungry," was his excuse to Mao.
You took the steak from the pan and perfected the hamburger before arriving to a disheveled Kyoya and a steaming nursemaid. "Please don't be mad, Mao-san. Kyoya had missed breakfast and lunch today, it was the least I could do. Besides, I was hungry myself." You smiled in her direction.
Mao examined you carefully, as if to check whether the monstrous wolf she knows her young master to be had come out to play. To her pleasure, you seemed fine, your wardrobe was intact, your make up was perfect, and not a hair out of place- well, apart from the apron around your figure. Her young master even allowed the young lady to call him by his first name.
"Here you go, hamburger steak." You handed him his plate.
"Took you long enough, herbivore." Mao squeaked once more, and watched the interaction between the two of you. To her surprise, you didn't scream at him, you didn't throw anything at him, you didn't flinch, you weren't afraid, and you certainly don't anger her young master. "I see. I'll finish faster then, next time."
Kyoya hummed in approval while taking a bite out of the hamburger stake. He'll have to let you cook for him more often.
