Slow down Snufkin, you're going too fast. He'll need some time to think about it.
Snufkin could hear his heart pounding in his chest as he stared up at the starry sky. Hours had passed since the encounter with Moomin. Moomin had seemed completely oblivious to Snufkin's attempts at affection, or maybe it was that Snufkin hadn't been obvious enough. He sat up suddenly. An idea came to mind and he sprung up, heading towards his tent and leaving the constellations in the night sky behind.

Snufkin took out his pen and ink and prepared a piece of paper to write on. It was a piece of letter paper he had been saving for a while. Beautiful, ivory paper with pink roses around the edges. He pressed the pen to the paper and began to write.

Dear Moomin,

We have been friends for quite some time. My heart aches every fall when I have to leave you.  We only have a little bit of time left before I must begin my journey again, far away from moominvalley, far away from you... I will miss you dearly, Moomin. I always do. To be honest, a winter with you would make me so happy. I cherish your company. I love

A small droplet fell onto the paper, smudging the ink. Snufkin wiped the tears away from his eyes and sighed. Maybe it would do me some good to leave early this year, Snufkin thought, his mind occupied with sorrow. And get him off my mind.

Him.

Snufkin smiled sadly and folded up the letter without bothering to finish it. He inserted it into a milky white envelope and sealed it with vermillion wax. Hopefully this letter would clear things up and make Moomin finally understand. He would deliver it to Moominhouse in the morning.

Later that night, as the hours passed and Snufkin tried to sleep, a feeling gradually seeped into his mind. What if Snufkin did leave? And what if he didn't return in the spring, what would happen then? Maybe that would be for the best. And suddenly he was sobbing. The leaves rustled outside his tent and he realized fall would be coming much sooner this year. Tomorrow he would say his goodbyes to Moomin and leave.

(sorry 4 the short chapter, I felt like it would be best to stop it here)
