When water meets fire

Chapter 2

A couple of weeks go by from the situation at the docks. The townspeople have come up with Sapphire's nickname as well. The Elementalist. 

I walked into the tavern and have a seat at the bar. The bartender passed me my usual, bourbon. I enjoyed relaxing for a while but that ended when Arthur and his dad walked into the bar, I grabbed a menu to cover my face. They of course sad a few chairs over from me. They started to have a little drinking game and his dad beat him pretty bad.  

"I can breathe underwater and you can still drink a beer faster than me" Arthur said as he burped after chugging his beer.  "Its my super power!" Thomas patted arthur on the back. I giggled behind the menu but luckily neither one of them noticed. Over the tv a new caster talked about the stolen tech and the pirates that tried to kidnap a submarine but the 'Aquaman' saved them. A couple of bikers came up to Arthur and wanted a picture. They continued to take pictures and drink, going back to his seat, Arthur knocked a drink into my lap but I quickly waterbended it onto the floor.  

" Oh I am so sorry about that..let me buy you another drink " Arthur says as he holds his hand up for the bartender to make me another one. " No no its okay, you managed to miss me and I was getting ready to leave anyway" I say as I hop off the barstool and head for the door, not letting arthur see my face but he grabs my wrist before I could pull away, I keep from facing him. "Please allow me to make it up to you!" He says trying to pull me over to him but I break free and leave the bar. "Who was that Arthur?" Thomas says as Arthur returns to his seat. "I don't know but she felt familiar to me" Arhtur packs up his stuff.  

I step outside to take a breath. "Sister!" I hear an all to familiar voice say from the dock. "What are you doing here " I say snapping at her.  "Its Orm, he wants to rage war on the surface...I came here for Arthur Curry...but we could use you back home too" Mera says stepping over to me , I step back from her. "Honestly....what is new? and I am not coming back. Im not wanted there" I say headed for the water.  " I have really missed you sapphire...please come back home with me" Mera says pleading. "No" I snap  at her and dive into the water. Shortly after Arthur and his dad come out to the truck and mera stops them.   "What are you doing here?" Arthur said annoyed. He never did like Mera because she was from Atlantis.  "Your half-brother, King Orm , Is about to declare war upon the surface world. Billions will die. Your people and mine. We must stop him" Mera says walking over to Arthur.  "And how do you propose we do that?" he says as he puts his dad in the car . "You are the first-born son of Queen Atlanna. The Throne is yours by birthright. The only way to stop this war and save both worlds is for you to take your rightful place as king" Mera replies. " You think if I just show up, Orm will give up the throne? I'm the bastard son of a queen your people executed. Trust me, I'm no king." Arhtur snaps at mera. "I agree" Mera says. "That's awesome" he throws a thumbs up to Mera and comes back around to the driver side of the car. " But, Vulko seems to believe in you for some reason, and that's why I'm here. Vulko has learned of the location of the lost trident of Atlantis"  She says trying to keep him from leaving. "Fairy tales...it's a myth" Arthur replies.  "It's not a myth. With the sacred trident, people will listen to you. You can then claim your birthright and dethrone Orm." Mera steps towards arthur "My birthright? It died with my mother. But I'll promise you this, if Orm attacks, I'll treat him the same way your people treated her, with no mercy"  he gets in his car and drives off towards the lighthouse. 

A giant tidal wave bringing a big battleship with it is breaking the horizon coming straight for the the coast, right in the path of Arthur and his dad.  Arthur slams on the gas and speeds to the house but gets struck by a telephone pole, he swims all through the water dodging debris and find his dad in an air pocket that mera created, Arthur rips the door of the hinges and pulls his dad out of the car. Mera helps Tom breathe by pulling the water out of this body and he wakes up coughing.  

"You know I don't even know your name? " Arthur says holding his dad on the ground. "Its princess Y'Mera Xebella Challa...you may call me Mera.... This was orms doing. The worst is yet to come" as she says this another giant wave comes but it poses to be more powerful then the first and mera can't get it to fall, I come out of the water and slide in front of her, my hair glows blue and my eyes like blue fire, I push my hands towards the wave and retreats in the opposite direction and the rest of it crashes around us.  "Its you...I remember you from when I was younger...and you are the Elementalist all over the news. At the fire on the boat....and In the bar" Arthur says walking to me, I step back and it causes him to stop where he stands. "Sapphira" mera says acknowledging arthur. "You know her?" puzzled. "Yeah shes my..." mera says but I stop her before she can finish that sentence. "Just an old friend" I say walking back towards the ocean. "Thank you for saving us...you should come back and have tea at the house and get cleaned up" Thomas says politely.  I nod and walk with them inside their house with Mera. Arthur proceeds to take off his soaking wet shirt and jacket. "So are you Atlantean too?" he says digging for information, I cant focus with his shirt of...so defined..so well hot! I smile to myself and reply after he puts another t-shirt on. "Well...yeah I am" I reply. "You have been on the surface for a long time...what happened? I thought you weren't allowed to leave Atlantis" he says puzzled. "Well...I decided to leave Atlantis all those years ago for many reasons" I say sipping on my tea. Arthur sits next to me on the couch, his leg touching mine. I scoot over away from him some. "Tell me...tell me the reasons" he says demanding. "Uhhh no Id rather not Arthur". "Come on Sapphire...tell me" he says as he puts his hand on my thigh, I push it off and stand up. " I have absolutely nothing to say to you"  "Ouch.." Arthur says as he turns to mera "Well what do we need to do?" he says. "You will come with me to Atlantis to meet with Vulko and he will tell us what we need to do next" she says.  I roll my eyes and sit on the arm of the chair. "Yeah you too have fun...Im going home". Arthur raises an eyebrow " Your not going to come? your powers are so amazing ".  "Yeah please come Sapphire, I miss my...best friend" Mera says looking at me with pleading eyes.  "Fine..whatever if it will get you two to shut up" I snap at them. 

Arthur takes Mera and I upstairs where we can stay for the night so we leave early the next morning. I push past him and head outside to the top of the lighthouse. There are falling bricks and messed up rubble from when the waves crashed. I stand against the railing  taking in the damage around the town that Orm managed to do with a few tidal waves. Arthur comes outside to join me. While I face the ocean arthur has his back to the railing. He picks up some bricks and looks at the lighthouse. "Orm will get whats coming to him" he says a little angry. I turn to face him "Oh you have no idea..." I say taking a brick from him, I use my earthbending and put all the rubble and bricks back into place. Arthur is in aw of my powers and I raise an eyebrow at him. "What" I say with annoyance in my voice. "Its so fascinating....Why don't you like me sapphire? " he says grabbing onto my arm, I pull away and step back from him. " I have my reasons Arthur Curry...". "Please tell me them then Sapphire" he says with a little bit of hurt in his eyes. I shift uncomfortable thinking to myself all the reasons why I hate this man standing in front of me but part of me wants to tell him everything. "Goodnight Arthur" I say walking back to my room
