Chapter 3

Hesitantly, I stepped into the forest.

The smell of leaves and dirt flooded my nose, causing me to sigh in relief.

It wasn't so bad, it seemed like it was any normal forest!!

I slowly made my way farther into the depths of this jungle, taking in deep breaths of the heavenly smell of nature.

It was pleasant...

After a few minutes of stepping over logs and dodging hanging branches, the fragrance turned bitter and burnt...

Almost like smoke?

Was there a fire?!

Am I gonna get stuck here and burned alive!!

I shook my head, realizing how ridiculous that sounded.

But what else could it be?

I stuck up my nose- trying to search for the source of the smell.

Following the trail wasn't hard since, when I squinted, I could see a fog of smoke leading the way...

I came into a clearing where a giant mushroom came into view.

Thats strange...

I took a deep breath, preparing myself mentally for what could be hidden behind the fungus.

I stepped softly, keeping myself steady and quiet.

Suddenly, a big puff of smoke encased the air, similar to how an octopus squirts ink in order to escape predators.

I coughed, suffocating in the smoke.

Suddenly, the cloud dissipated and standing in front of me was a man.

I screamed, frightened by his sudden presence.

He glared at me, a began to speak.

"-ou?"

My heart was pounding in my ears, making it difficult to hear him.

I took a deep breath, placing my palm against my chest.

"Escuse me? I'm sorry, I didn't hear you..."

His eyes narrowed, his sneer growing with every passing second.

"I said, who are you?"

I nodded, straightening myself up again.

"Um... I'm (Y/N)..."

He scoffed, turning away from me and walking back towards the mushroom.

Okay... rude.

I followed him regardless, interested in what was hidden by the fungus.

He turned suddenly, causing me to bump into his chest.
