I ran. I ran through the night with death biting at my heels, my heart thudded hard in my chest and my breath came in desperate gasps as I pushed on down through the damp streets of London. They still followed. Their feet pounded against the ground and their menacing calls rang in my ears.

“Hey pretty girl come back! Aw you scared? We just wanna have some fun eh lads?”

They all cheered with boyish humour.

Just keep running Whisper! Run! I thought to myself.

The old antique store that I used to go in every weekend was closed, like every shop in the street; it was a ghost town, nowhere to seek refuge against my pursuers.

I turned a corner hoping for some sign of people who would help me escape, no one was there, just a dead end, its eerie dark, rotting walls of an abandoned factory loomed over me and the smell of damp and rot hit me like a brick wall. I turned around to find another way, but they were blocking the entrance. There were about fifteen of them, they all looked nineteen years old, maybe even twenty, all of them stared at me with victorious smiles.

They whistled and cheered at me as they closed in.

The oldest member of the drunken group cornered me, his long dark hair fell across his pale face in a messy heap and his murky brown eyes pierced through mine. He breathed on me, wafting the strong alcoholic smell into my face. He chuckled.
