Marcus opened his eyes. He was in an unfamiliar place. He looked around him, but his friends were not there. He was confused. A horse raced past him, followed by a frog. Am I in-?
He couldn't finish his thought. It was too crazy- too confusing. He was too confused-and he had gone crazy a few years ago. He figured that he was even more mad than the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
At that note, a rabbit hopped passed him. He looked at it and wathed it pop down a rather large rabbit hole. A girl followeed. Oh, no, Marcus thought. I was right. that hole is the portal Alice went through to go to Wonderland.
Marcus was either going crazy or being smart and using his knowledge. He jumped down the rabbit hole, not once considering how in the world he would get out again. However, he didn't end up in Wonderland. Unlike Lewis Carroll's description of what happened to Alice, he fell into this swirly ring and entered a place that was completely distorted.
Which way is up? Which way is down? AGH! IT'S TOO MUCH FOR MY BRAIN TO TAKE!
Marcus was having trouble adapting to this new place. Suddenly, he heard a voice saying, I will answer your questions. Just ask three, no more, out into the air, and I shall answer them.
Marcus didn't think. "WHO ARE YOU?! HOW DID I GET HERE?! WHERE AM I?!"
I am ventus, the wind. You are here because I brought you here to prevent you from mortem the snake, in English, death. You are in a place known to be the distortion world, but it's real name is Terra Sanitatis. "The land of healing".
The new information entered Marcus's brain. The land of healing? Death the snake? Wind...?
Oh, yes, your friends got hit by an avalanche. They should be fine- Mons, or mountain, in English, saved them.
Marcus felt better-his friends were alive! "What language do you speak? Will I see my friends again? Will you help me find my way back?"
I speak Latin. All of us speak latin. Yes, you will see your friends again, but you will need help. Yes, I will join, but even with my help, we are powerless againsed Mortem.
Suddenly, Ventus became a human. She was basically Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon, with the eyes of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom.
"The only way we can defeat Mortem is with the help of Aquila."
"Owl?"
"Yes."
Marcus was begining to get impatient. "Can we go now?
Ventus drew her bow and a sword. "You'll need this," she told him, stretching the sword out. Marcus took it, thanking her.
"Yes, now we can go."
