"Tendou..." said a gentle voice.

Tendou was still asleep. He hasn't gained enough consciousness to figure out who or what was calling him. He wasn't used to waking up so early in the morning. Normally, he would wake up in the afternoon, having lunch as his breakfast.

"Tendou," this time the voice got louder.

Tendou tried to respond to whoever had been calling him; but because he was still sleepy, it came out as a mumble instead.

After a few seconds of silence passed, he felt a pair of warm hands on his face. In a split second, Tendou woke up with a shock.

"AHH!" he exclaimed, rubbing his eyes.

After clearing his eyes, he heard a faint chuckle coming from above him. His eyes widened and his face turned crimson at the sight of a green-haired boy. Tendou immediately recognised him.

It was Ushijima.

Their faces were just inches apart. Tendou could even feel Ushijima's warm breath as he chuckled.

"I apologise, did I scare you?" Ushijima asked, smirking.

"How could I not," Tendou replied fiercely. He was a little confused at the time. He had expected Ushijima to be much more serious as he was his sergeant.

"I'm truly sorry," Ushijima said apologetically. "You can't expect me to be serious all the time. Even some of the soldiers were surprised by my behaviour."

"Anyways, you're late. You should be getting ready by now," Ushijima informed. He then stood up straight in front of Tendou's bed.

"Yeah.." Tendou said as he yawned. "Thanks for waking me up."

"No problem. Get used to this timing, alright? You'll be waking up at this time every day."

"Yes, now would you mind getting out of my room?" Tendou asked.

"Oh, sure," Ushijima said as he walked towards the door; but before closing the door, Ushijima turned to face Tendou once more.

"May I ask you one more thing?"

"Uhm.. yeah," Tendou replied.

"Were you okay last night? You were banging against the wall," Ushijima asked, concerned.

Tendou's face flushed in embarrassment at that statement. He hadn't expected Ushijima to bring up the incident. He knew he couldn't tell him about what he had been thinking about.

"O-Oh," Tendou said without hesitation. "That was.......nothing, really. I'm sorry for waking you up."

"Okay then, I'll see you at the field."

Tendou nodded and Ushijima walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
