A/N This'll be a long and confusing one folks, please bear with me for the first few chapters, I promise it will get better! Also T/W self harm later on.

Lydia ran through the castle, only one thing was on her mind- getting to him.
She passed the great hall, her tears welling up at the sight of her cousin out cold. Visions filled the mind of the young witch. Visions of her Aunt Andromeda crying over her daughters body. Visions of little Teddy growing up an orphan, miserable and abused like Harry. But no! He would never be like Harry, because he had his godfather, he had his grandmother, and he had Lydia. She couldn't stop though, as much as she would love to apologise to Andromeda on her mother's behalf, she was pretty sure it was Bellatrix who killed Nymphadora. She couldn't. She had to find him. She began to sing that song. The song she had first danced with Harry to.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind
Lydia's hands started to warm, the light projecting from them.

So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain
A path started to open up in front of her, she followed it through into the hallways.

Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
The spell travelled back and forth. Twisting and turning. It followed up into the headmasters office.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it
I would be nothing without you
She was crying now, actually crying. She, Lydia Black, was crying. She pulled a small vial from the pocket of her short dress. The witch let her tears fall into the vessel, while she continued to sing.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
She conjured a label from the tip of her wand, and using a quill on the desk, labelled the vial with her name. She set it down on the desk, and resumed her search.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle
She was getting somewhere, she could feel it.

For you are the wind beneath my wings
She could see figures moving in the distance of the courtyard. They were making a cacophony , and she recognised her mothers laugh.

'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings...
Her heart stopped, as did her song. Her eyes focused on the small figure curled up in Hagrid's arms. She'd failed. She hadn't done her duty. She felt like screaming, but that would be foolish. Her cousin Draco stood beside her.
"It's ok, you know? You'll be ok" he tried to soothe her, but she shook his hand away.
"How can I? You're no fool Draco, it will be uncovered. That I am the spy." Lydia was shaking with sobs.
"Not if I have anything to do with it. Remember? I kept your secret. I may not like Potter, but you're my cousin, and I care for you." He said softly.
"Thanks" She murmured. She had seen a side of Draco that no one else had, she'd seen the soft side. Voldemort and his army was approaching. This is what she had to do. Nothing else, this. Even while Voldemort was talking, she couldn't hear a thing. Only the music playing through the small bedroom Harry had at Privet Drive. Even when Draco steps forward to join the dark side and attempts to pull her with him, she can't see him. All that she can see is herself, dancing to the beat with in his arms. Lydia's "accidental" magic changing their environment, her dress, until they're in a forest clearing, although neither of them noticing or caring.
