I was walking through the manor. Honestly, I was just on my way to owl my friends. I was hoping they'd be able to come over for the week. Since I haven't spent a single birthday without them. I didn't want to spend this one without them. That's when I heard the floo in our main sitting area fire up. I peeked into the room and saw none other than Lucius Malfoy. I got excited hoping Draco was with him, but that only lasted a few seconds. I didn't see Draco follow and what I heard after was rather alarming.

"Where is he?!" Lucius roared.

That's when I noticed my father on the couch. "I have no idea what you're talking about Lucius."

"Draco. Where is he?" Lucius snarled.

"I assure you I haven't seen him. My wards would have notified me if he was here." My father said.

Lucius frowned. "That boy of yours is poisoning his mind. He is hiding him!"

My father shook his head. "No he isn't. What's going on Lucius why are you looking for him?"

"Draco was supposed to be initiated today. I went to fetch him from his room but he was not there. Then my wards indicated that he had aparated." Lucius explained the frown never leaving.

"I assure you he is not here. If he were I would tell you. Have you tried the Parkinson's?" My father sighed.

Lucius sneered. "He would never! Only the daughter likes him."

'Draco? Where are you?' I was now worried for my best friend. I left when Lucius did and went to the tower where we kept our owls. 'I need to know if he is okay.' I always knew Draco wasn't happy with his father's alliance. But Lucius Malfoy was not a man you wished to defy, especially if you were of his blood.

Draco Lucius Malfoy,

I have received some troubling news. I was hoping you would come over for my birthday, but I suppose you won't now. It's sad knowing you won't be there for the first time in forever.

Are you at least safe? Your father showed up here. Please write back.

Your friend,
Blaise Zabini

I nodded at the letter and sent it off. I never got a response. I spent the rest of my summer worrying about him and sending owls with Pansy. I didn't tell her of course. Maybe he was fine and it wouldn't pay to start a manhunt. His father may kill whoever he was with. Knowing Lucius he would kill Draco for just running away. 'Did Draco even run away? What if Lucius was covering his tracks? Could he just be overreacting?' A new wave of worry over came me. Lucius was capable of anything.

He didn't care much for Draco's opinion. I was lucky my parents agreed with me. Their view was that a war was no place for a child. Mine was simply not wanting to fight against my peers or my parents. So I wanted to remain neutral.

"Blaise honey. Breakfast!"

"I'm coming mother." I replied.

It was two days before going back. Today we were going to diagon alley for supplies. I was hoping I would at least see Draco there. But alas it's just my luck that he didn't show.

This summer was just disappointing. Since I had planned to talk to Pansy and Draco about something. I am terrified to tell them, however, I know that I should. I guess it will have to wait a little bit longer.

"Hey grumpy pants! What's up?"

I looked up. "Oh hey Pans. I'm just a bit worried. I overheard Draco's father talking about the dark mark and something about Draco. I couldn't make everything out though."
